• Undergoing season-ending surgery
Lee is set to undergo season-ending surgery in the next few weeks for a torn labrum in his left shoulder, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Lee sustained the injury in the top of the first inning of Sunday's game against the Reds when he crashed into the outfield wall while attempting to make a catch. He was placed on the 10-day IL with what was initially labelled as a dislocated left shoulder, but an MRI on Tuesday revealed further structural damage. Lee received multiple opinions on the injury, and season-ending surgery has been ultimately been decided on for the 25-year-old outfielder. Lee signed a six-year, $113 million with the Giants in December of 2023 after seven seasons in the Korea Baseball Organization, and he will end his first season in the majors slashing .262/.310/.331 with four doubles, two home runs and eight RBI over 158 plate appearances. Luis Matos has started in center field in each game since Lee's injury, and the former will reprise that role again Friday against the Rockies. Rotowire.com Today, 3:46 pm

  • Returns to starting lineup
Soler (shoulder) is serving as the designated hitter and batting in the leadoff spot for Friday's game against the Rockies, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: The Giants reinstated Soler from the 10-day injured list Friday, per Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com. Soler made two rehab appearances with Triple-A Sacramento, and he went 2-for-3 with one RBI in his second outing Thursday. Before landing on the IL, the 32-year-old was slashing .202/.294/.361 with five home runs and eight RBI over 136 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 3:39 pm

  • Jonathan India returns to Reds’ lineup on Friday
Jonathan India (migraine) returned to the Reds’ starting lineup for Friday night’s matchup against the Dodgers.

Advice: India had missed each of the team’s previous two games due to migraines. He’s back in there at second base on Friday night and will bat leadoff against James Paxton and the Dodgers in Los Angeles. Rotoworld Today, 3:37 pm

  • Jung Hoo Lee to undergo season-ending surgery
Jung Hoo Lee will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Advice: It had been anticipated that Lee would be sidelined for most — if not all — of the season after crashing into the center-field wall at Oracle Park over the weekend, and now it’s official. The 25-year-old finishes his first season stateside hitting .262/.310/.331 with a pair of homers, 15 runs scored, eight RBI and two stolen bases in 37 games. He should be ready to go for the start of spring training in 2025. Rotoworld Today, 3:35 pm

  • Giants option Casey Schmitt back to Triple-A
Giants optioned INF Casey Schmitt to Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Once again, the 25-year-old infielder’s stay at the big league level was short-lived this time around. Schmitt went just 3-for-22 (.136) with one RBI and a 5/0 K/BB ratio in his six games with the Giants this time around. He’ll continue to bide his time at Triple-A until he’s called upon once more. • Jorge Soler (shoulder) returns to Giants’ lineup
Giants activated OF Jorge Soler from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The 32-year-old slugger will return to the Giants’ lineup on Friday night against the Rockies, serving as their leadoff man and designated hitter. Before landing on the injured list with a right shoulder strain, Soler had been hitting a disappointing .202/.294/.361 with five long balls and only eight RBI in 34 games. • Close to swinging
Manager Pat Murphy said Friday that Mitchell (finger) is scheduled to begin swinging a bat during the Brewers' upcoming road trip, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Murphy suggested Mitchell's return to swinging will likely occur while the team is in Boston between May 24-26. Assuming the Brewers are still following general manager Matt Arnold's estimation of a June 1 return, Mitchell would be in line to begin a rehab assignment shortly after Milwaukee's series against the Red Sox. The speedy outfielder has been on the injured list all season after suffering a fractured finger during spring training. Rotowire.com Today, 3:26 pm

  • Back in starting lineup
Heyward (back) is starting in right field and batting eighth in Friday's game against the Reds, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Heyward appeared in just five games for the Dodgers, going 3-for-14 with two RBI before landing on the 10-day injured list April 3 due to lower-back tightness. It took about a month for the 34-year-old to return to baseball activities, and he appeared in two games with Triple-A Oklahoma City earlier in the week, going 0-for-6 with one walk and two strikeouts. The move corresponds with Max Muncy being placed on the 10-day IL with a right oblique strain. Rotowire.com Today, 3:22 pm

  • Dodgers activate Jason Heyward (back) from IL
Dodgers activated OF Jason Heyward from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: As anticipated, the 34-year-old slugger will slot right back into the Dodgers’ lineup on Friday night — starting in right field and batting eighth against Reds’ right-hander Frankie Montas. No word yet on the corresponding move to activate Heyward, but it’s definitely not Andy Pages, who is starting in center field and batting seventh for the Dodgers on Friday night.
