    Advice: Herz was dominant against the Marlins on Saturday. Making his third career start, he struck out 13 batters on 21 whiffs over six shutout frames, second most strikeouts by a Nationals rookie behind Stephen Strasburg. Herz allowed just one baserunner on the day, a single by Jake Burger in the fifth inning.   • Trevor Rogers solid over seven in loss to Nats
    Trevor Rogers allowed two runs with three strikeouts across seven innings in a loss to the Nationals on Saturday.

    Advice: Trevor Rogers had one of his better starts, going a season-high seven innings against the Nationals. He allowed a run in to score in the first inning on a single, double, and sacrifice fly. Lane Thomas later hit a solo homer in the third. Rogers would settle in for four more scoreless frames, but was saddled with a no-decision as the Marlins were shut down by DJ Herz.   • Carlos Carrasco surrenders five runs in loss
    Carlos Carrasco allowed five runs with two strikeouts over five innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday.

    Advice: Carrasco started with a clean first inning, then ran into some trouble in the second. The Blue Jays would bring two runs in on a walk and three hits before Carrasco could record an out. He got out of the frame with three runs scored. A walk and a hit made it four runs after four innings. Carrasco hit two batters in the fifth and allowed one more run before his day was done.     Advice: Imanaga got his first taste of the storied NL Central rivalry on Saturday afternoon at historic Wrigley Field and delivered another masterpiece, throwing a career-high 103 pitches and limiting St. Louis’ lineup to just four baserunners over seven stellar frames. He induced 14 swinging strikes, with a dozen of them coming on his splitter/sweeper combo, and allowed just seven batted balls with an exit velocity in excess of 95 mph. The 30-year-old Japanese southpaw has been a revelation this season in his Cubs debut, allowing two earned runs or fewer in 12 of his 13 starts so far.     Andre Pallante was charged with two runs (one earned) over 3 1/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the Cubs.

    Advice: Pallante turned in a perfect opening frame before engineering a masterful escape after giving up back-to-back hits to open the second inning. He got into trouble in the fourth inning after giving up consecutive hits to open the frame and was lifted for reliever Chris Roycroft after striking out Ian Happ and wound up being charged with a pair of runs following his departure.     Advice: As expected, Flaherty will take the ball this weekend against Houston’s high-powered offense after receiving a couple extra days of rest to address a back issue that cropped up during his previous start on June 4 against the Rangers.     Flaherty (back) said he's feeling better after receiving a pain-killing injection Tuesday and has been cleared to start Saturday's game against the Astros in Houston, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

    Advice: Flaherty was scheduled to play catch Wednesday and will throw a bullpen session Thursday, but unless the Tigers indicate that his back is still aching coming out of either of those activities, he shouldn't face any restrictions while he slots back into the rotation this weekend. The right-hander has delivered excellent returns on the Tigers' one-year, $14 million investment on him this offseason, as he'll head into Saturday's outing with a 3-4 record, 3.22 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 94:10 K:BB across 72.2 innings through his first 12 starts with Detroit.
