• Returns from IL
The Orioles reinstated Means (forearm) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Though manager Brandon Hyde had already noted Monday that Means was on track to rejoin the rotation for this weekend's series in Cincinnati, the Orioles activated him early since the southpaw's 30-day minor-league rehab window officially came to an end. The Orioles placed Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) on the 15-day IL in a corresponding move, so Means' arrival means that the team should have room in the rotation for at least one of Albert Suarez and Cole Irvin, or even both pitchers if Hyde elects to go with a six-man rotation. Means struggled mightily through the first five starts of his rehab stint with Triple-A Norfolk (13.89 ERA, 2.31 WHIP in 11.2 innings) but he closed his minor-league assignment in dominant fashion Sunday, striking out eight over seven shutout innings and allowing just one hit and one walk. He tossed 95 pitches (61 strikes) in the outing and is unlikely to face any major restrictions when he makes his 2024 Orioles debut, likely Friday or Saturday. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago

  • Orioles place Grayson Rodriguez on 15-day IL
Orioles placed RHP Grayson Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 30, with right shoulder inflammation.

Advice: The move comes just two days after Rodriguez’s last start where he allowed zero runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Yankees on Monday. The 24-year-old has posted a 3.71 ERA, 1.41 WHIP with a 37/12 K/BB ratio in his six starts this season. The positive for the Orioles is that the team was able to activate John Means and Kyle Bradish should be back in the rotation soon as well. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago

  • Orioles activate John Means (elbow) from 15-day IL
Orioles activated LHP John Means (elbow) from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Means will be a welcomed addition to the Orioles starting rotation after the team had to place Grayson Rodriguez on the injured list Wednesday with a shoulder injury. Means looked solid in his last rehab start with Triple-A Norfolk where he allowed just one hit over seven scoreless innings. If he’s available, he could be a solid addition for fantasy managers in deeper leagues. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago

  • Hits IL with shoulder inflammation
The Orioles placed Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right shoulder inflammation, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Advice: Rodriguez showed no signs of being hindered by an injury in his last start against the Yankees on Monday, striking out three over 5.2 scoreless innings. However, the right-hander's shoulder is evidently bothering him enough that he will miss a least the next two weeks of action. John Means (forearm) was activated from the 15-day IL in a corresponding move and will replaced Rodriguez on the 26-man active roster and in the rotation. Rotowire.com 44 minutes ago

  • Undergoing MRI on injured back
Matz will undergo an MRI on his injured back Thursday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Matz attempted to pitch through a back issue during a loss to the Tigers on Tuesday, but he struggled and will now undergo testing. The Cardinals will wait until the results of the exam come in before deciding on a potential stint on the injured list for the left-hander. Of the potential candidates on the Cardinals' 40-man roster that could take Matz's rotation spot, Sem Robberse has pitched the best at Triple-A Memphis, sporting a 1.82 ERA and 29:6 K:BB over 29.2 innings. • Steven Matz (back) scheduled for MRI Thursday
Steven Matz (back) is scheduled for an MRI on Thursday.

Advice: Matz attempted to pitch through a lower-back issue on Tuesday and it appears he may have pushed it too much. Cardinals manager Oli Marimol added that the 32-year-old isn’t feeling much better today, so an MRI makes sense and one could speculate a trip to the injured list is likely to happen. Matz has posted a 6.18 ERA through his first six starts which is on pace for his worst-career ERA in a 162-game season. Rotoworld Today, 9:12 am

  • White Sox call up Jared Shuster
White Sox recalled LHP Jared Shuster from Triple-A Charlotte.

Advice: Shuster will be the 27th man on the roster for Chicago’s second game of a doubleheader against the Royals. The 25-year-old has made two appearances for the White Sox this season and has posted a solid 1.42 ERA, 1.11 WHIP with a 4/2 K/BB ratio in 6 1/3 innings. Rotoworld Today, 8:28 am
  • Joins bullpen
The White Sox recalled Shuster from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

Advice: Chris Flexen will start for the White Sox on Wednesday versus the Twins and has bounced between the rotation and bullpen lately, so Shuster will give Chicago an option for long relief, if needed. The lefty has allowed just one run over 6.1 innings in two relief appearances with the big club this season. Rotowire.com Today, 8:27 am
  • Gets start Friday
Keller is scheduled to start Friday's game against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium.

Advice: Keller was called up from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday and proceeded to make his White Sox debut as a reliever Monday, when he tossed 1.2 scoreless innings against the Twins. The White Sox haven't indicated that Keller will be joining the rotation on a permanent basis, as the team might have just wanted to build in an extra day of rest for Erick Fedde, who will take the hill Saturday after tossing 8.1 innings and 108 pitches in his most recent outing last Sunday versus the Rays. Keller will be taking the mound Friday on three days' rest, so he could face a light workload restriction, even though he had worked five-plus innings in each of his three starts with Charlotte prior to his call-up.
