• Placed on injured list
The Red Sox placed Yoshida on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left thumb strain, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: MRI results revealed a strain in Yoshida's left thumb after he jammed his hand during Sunday's game against the Cubs, and there is no telling whether or not the 30-year-old outfielder will be able to return when eligible May 10. The newly-signed Dominic Smith will take Yoshida's place on the active roster. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago

  • Spencer Steer snaps homerless streak Wednesday
Spencer Steer clobbered a solo homer on Wednesday in the Reds’ loss to the Padres.

Advice: Steer kicked off the scoring with a solo shot to left-center field -- his fourth round-tripper of the season -- off Padres starter Joe Musgrove in the opening frame. It was the first time he’s gone deep since April 6, snapping a bizarre 22-game homerless drought. The versatile 26-year-old on-base machine is batting .252/.364/.450 with 18 runs scored, four homers, 22 RBI and eight stolen bases through 31 contests. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

  • Jackson Merrill goes hitless Wednesday in victory
Jackson Merrill went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on Wednesday in the Padres’ win over the Reds.

Advice: Don’t look now, but Merrill has gone 0-for-19 in six contests over the last week. The 21-year-old top prospect looked extremely impressive at the outset of the season in his Padres debut, but has hit a frosty stretch at the dish of late, which also coincides with a nagging groin issue that he’s been playing through. It’s entirely possible he’s not close to 100 percent at the moment, which is impacting his on-field results. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

  • Jurickson Profar tallies four hits in victory
Jurickson Profar went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI on Wednesday in the Padres’ win over the Reds.

Advice: Profar’s unexpected hot start continues to roll on as his latest four-hit performance raises his batting average to an astronomical .342 mark through 34 contests. He’s only added four homers and one steal, so we’re not forecasting a late-career renaissance for the 31-year-old former top overall prospect, but it’s worth noting that his latest hot streak is probably enough to land him some opportunities in the future to prolong his career. • Takes seat against lefty
Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Rosario once again finds himself on the bench for the third time in four games while the Nationals face another left-handed starting pitcher (Andrew Heaney). Platoon mate Alex Call gets the start in right field while Rosario takes a seat. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago

  • J-Rod raises average to .270 with three more hits
Julio Rodríguez went 3-for-5 with a run scored on Wednesday in the Mariners’ loss to the Braves.

Advice: Rodríguez has clearly snapped out of an early-season funk at the dish with seven multi-hit performances in his last 13 contests over the past two weeks since April 17. The 23-year-old fantasy superstar has just one round-tripper through 31 games, but he’s managed to raise his batting average back up to the .270 mark, and has also chipped in seven steals as well. It’s just a matter of time before he starts hitting moonshots again. Rotoworld 44 minutes ago

  • First homer with White Sox
Pham went 2-for-4 with an RBI double, a solo homer and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 10-5 loss to Minnesota.

Advice: Pham opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning before extending Chicago's lead to 3-1 in the third with a home run off Bailey Ober, his first since joining the White Sox this year. The 36-year-old Pham's hit the ground running, going 9-for-24 while recording multiple hits in four of his first six contests. He slashed .256/.328/.446 with 16 homers, 68 RBI and 22 steals in 129 games between the Mets and Diamondbacks last season. Rotowire.com 45 minutes ago

  • Astros consider IL stint for McCormick (hamstring)
Astros’ manager Joe Espada admitted Wednesday that they’re considering a stint on the injured list for Chas McCormick (hamstring).

Advice: McCormick is available to pinch-hit on Wednesday, but it sounds like if he doesn’t improve very soon that he’ll wind up on the shelf for a while. Trey Cabbage was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday to add depth to their outfield. Rotoworld 59 minutes ago

  • Tyler Nevin belts solo homer to sink Pirates
Tyler Nevin went 2-for-4 with a solo homer on Wednesday, propelling the Athletics to a 4-0 victory over the Pirates.

Advice: Nevin has homered four times in his last seven games and continues to quietly emerge as a impact contributor for the Athletics. The 26-year-old first baseman is batting .325 (26-for-80) with four homers, 10 RBI and one steal in 25 games in his Oakland debut. Rotoworld Today, 3:09 pm
