• Resumes baseball activity
Kessinger (shoulder) has resumed baseball activity, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Kessinger was on the field Saturday before Houston's game, marking his first activity since hitting the injured list April 30. Despite the progress, he's not expected back on the field until late May. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:35 pm

  • Homer, steal in win
Wisdom went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Wisdom, who exceeded 20 homers each of the past three seasons, finally got on the board with his first long ball of 2024. He also added his second steal of the season, and his second steal since the calendar flipped to May. Wisdom has totaled just 20 at-bats since he returned from the injured list April 18, as most of his playing time has come against left-handed pitching, though he's now been the DH in two of the Cubs' last three games versus opposing right-handers. • Steals base in loss
Neto went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base Saturday in a loss to Cleveland.

Advice: Neto plated the only Angels run of the contest with a fifth-inning single. The shortstop followed with a stolen base, but he was left stranded in scoring position. Neto was batting .167 as recently as April 21, but he's turned a corner since, hitting .350 with two homers and six RBI over his past 11 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:53 pm
  • Swipes sixth bag
Adell went 0-for-2 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in Saturday's loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Adell has been quite aggressive on the basepaths this season, as he's already set a career high with six thefts, though he has also been caught five times, tied for most in the majors. With Mike Trout (knee) set to miss extended time, Adell should get the opportunity to start in the outfield on a near-everyday basis. The former top prospect is looking to finally break through at the major-league level, and he's fared pretty well so far this season with a .265/.320/.515 slash line, four homers, 11 RBI and 12 runs through 75 plate appearances. • Swats first homer
Hedges went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run Saturday in a 7-1 victory versus the Angels.

Advice: Hedges put the Guardians on the board in the second inning, plating two runs with a blast to left field. The long ball was the veteran catcher's first of the season and just his fourth hit overall through 31 plate appearances. Both Hedges and fellow backstop Bo Naylor (who played DH on Saturday) have struggled mightily in the early part of the campaign, though each went deep Saturday as the duo combined to drive in six of Cleveland's seven runs. • Blows game open with grand slam
Naylor went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Saturday's 7-1 victory against the Angels.

Advice: The contest was relatively close heading into the bottom of the sixth frame, as Cleveland held a narrow 3-1 lead. However, Angels starter Reid Detmers walked three batters in the inning, and Naylor made him pay for the wildness by crushing a two-out grand slam. The homer nearly doubled Naylor's season RBI total from five to nine, and it snapped a 15-game stretch without a long ball. Aside from Saturday's big blast, it's been a pretty rough season for the backstop, as he's slashing just .183/.280/.305 with a massive 38.7 percent strikeout rate through 93 plate appearances. • Starling Marte has two hits, steals base in loss
Starling Marte went 2-for-3 with an RBI and also stole a base on Saturday in the Mets’ loss to the Rays.

Advice: Marte was one of the few bright spots for the Mets in this one as they managed just six hits combined against Rays starter Zack Littell and a trio of relievers. It’s still early, but the 35-year-old veteran outfielder has looked rejuvenated this season, batting .275/.313/.408 with 16 runs scored, four homers, 15 RBI and seven steals in 129 plate appearances. • Homers off bench Saturday
Merrifield went 1-for-2 with a solo homer and a walk in Saturday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Merrifield didn't start the game but entered in the third inning for the injured Alec Bohm (hip) and wound up going deep off reliever Erik Miller later in the contest. Bohm is expected to be fine, but Merrifield could potentially see more action at second base in the coming weeks if the Phillies decide to shift Bryson Stott over to shortstop some days to cover for Trea Turner (hamstring). Merrifield is slashing .250/.308/.417 with two home runs and three steals over 16 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:27 pm

  • Knocks in two runs Saturday
Toro went 2-for-5 with a two-run single and three runs in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Toro extended Oakland's lead to 9-0 in the third inning with his timely single, pushing his RBI total to 13 to draw him into a tie with JJ Bleday for third place on the Athletics. The 27-year-old has been a steady offensive presence for the surprising A's, and he's now posted four consecutive two-hit tallies as part of an eight-game hitting streak overall.
