    • Goes yard in both ends of twin bill
Vierling went 4-for-8 with two home runs, three runs scored and five RBI across both games of Wednesday's doubleheader split with the Pirates.

Advice: Getting the start in center field in the opener and at third base in the second contest, Vierling was locked in at the plate no matter where he was stationed on the diamond. The 27-year-old crushed a three-run homer off Jared Jones in the fifth inning of an 8-0 win to kick off the twin bill, then launched a solo shot off Paul Skenes in the sixth inning of a 10-2 loss later in the afternoon. Vierling has four long balls among eight hits over his last three games, boosting his slash line on the season to .289/.320/.503 with seven homers, 22 runs and 28 RBI. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:27 pm

    • Matt Vierling homers again as Tigers drop nightcap
Matt Vierling homered for the fourth time in his last three games on Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Tigers past the Pirates in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Advice: After belting a pair of home runs — including a walk-off — on Sunday, and crushing a three-run shot in the first game on Wednesday, Vierling tagged Paul Skenes for a 373-foot solo shot in the sixth inning of the nightcap. He finished the afternoon 1-for-4 and is now slashing an impressive .289/.320/.503 to go along with seven homers and 28 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:29 pm

    • Matt Vierling hits three-run homer in rout
Matt Vierling went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI against the Pirates in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Advice: Vierling has three homers and eight runs batted in in his last two games. His season OPS is up to .811, and especially now that Kerry Carpenter is on the IL, he should be a fixture against righties and lefties alike for at least the next couple of weeks. That makes him a decent play in mixed leagues, though it hurts that he’s become a zero in steals. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:15 pm

    • Could play regularly sans Carpenter
Vierling will start in center field and bat second in the first game of Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Vierling had already started five of the Tigers' previous six games at three different positions (center field, left field and third base), but he should maintain an even more stable role in the outfield for at least the next week and a half after the Tigers placed Kerry Carpenter (back) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday. The 27-year-old Vierling has been one of the Tigers' top hitters in May, slashing .290/.320/.536 with three home runs, 16 RBI and eight runs on the month heading into Wednesday's twin bill. • Three hits in Sunday's win
Kelenic went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Pirates.

Advice: The 24-year-old outfielder started the day on the bench with southpaw Martin Perez pitching for Pittsburgh, but he was pressed into duty when Ronald Acuna (knee) went down and scored multiple runs in a game for the first time in 2024. Kelenic has only five plate appearances against lefties so far this year, and his third-inning single off Perez was his first hit against one, but with Acuna now lost for the season, Atlanta may not be able to limit Kelenic to a strict platoon role. • Jarred Kelenic with three hits off the bench
Jarred Kelenic went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored off the bench on Sunday in a win over the Pirates.

Advice: Kelenic came in for the injured Ronald Acuña Jr. on Sunday and delivered three hits on three hard-hit balls in the middle of multiple Braves’ rallies. Logic would tell us he has the most to gain from a serious injury to Acuña, but Atlanta has been unwilling to give him playing time against left-handed pitching. He did manage an infield single in this one off Martín Pérez, but has three strikeouts in his four other at-bats off lefties so far this season. Rotoworld May 26, 1:30 pm

    • Homers twice, walks off Jays
Vierling hit a walk-off home run in Sunday's 14-11 victory over Toronto, finishing 4-for-6 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored.

Advice: Vierling was the hero Sunday, putting an exclamation point on his career day with a three-run shot off Jordan Romano in the bottom of the ninth. The 27-year-old has earned a near everyday role for Detroit as a utility man, playing in 13 of Detroit's previous 15 contests, batting .214 with six RBI and two runs scored over that stretch. Vierling hit his first home run since May 1 and is now up to five longballs on the season to go with 23 RBI, 19 runs scored with a .278 average. Rotowire.com May 26, 1:23 pm

    • Matt Vierling launches walkoff homer for Tigers
Matt Vierling went 4-for-6 with two homers, including a game-winning three-run shot in the bottom of the ninth, as the Tigers topped the Blue Jays 14-11 in a wild one Sunday.

Advice: The Tigers led 5-0 after three and 8-3 after five, only to fall behind 11-9 in the top of the eighth. Still, they obviously weren’t done on a day in which seven homers were hit. Mark Canha tied the game with a single in the bottom of the eighth, and Vierling homered off Jordan Romano after Kerry Carpenter was intentionally walked in the ninth. Vierling previously homered in the sixth inning, and he now has five homers to go along with a .278/.311/.464 line on the season. Vierling has been doing some sitting against righties since Gio Urshela returned, but he deserves something close to a full-time role right now. He’s actually hitting righties a little better than lefties (.789 OPS to .750). Rotoworld May 26, 12:27 pm

    • Out against southpaw
Kelenic is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: With Pittsburgh bringing a southpaw (Martin Perez) to the hill for the second time in the series, the lefty-hitting Kelenic will remain on the bench. Adam Duvall will fill in as Atlanta's left fielder and will bat sixth. Rotowire.com May 26, 7:52 am
