    • Yanked early Friday
Lorenzen yielded two runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.1 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out one during the loss to the Giants.

Advice: Despite facing plenty of traffic on the basepaths, both runs allowed by Lorenzen were solo shots by Wilmer Flores. It was Lorenzen's shortest outing of the year and snapped his streak of four straight quality starts entering Friday. Since coughing up six runs against Oakland on May 8, he's registered a 1.50 ERA over his last five starts, lowering his season number to 3.05 through 59 innings. Lorenzen's next start is currently scheduled to be a road matchup with the Dodgers next week. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago
    • Yohan Ramírez gets save in 11th inning
Yohan Ramírez recorded his seventh major league save by allowing only the automatic runner to score in the bottom of the 11th against the Yankees on Friday.

Advice: Evan Phillips was off limits tonight after throwing 31 pitches Thursday, so Michael Grove got the 10th and Ramírez pitched the 11th. It was his first save since the final day of the 2022 season, when he was working for the Pirates. He’s allowed three earned runs in nine innings since the Dodgers picked him up from the Mets last month. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago
    • Cody Poteet lifted from scoreless game in fifth
Cody Poteet blanked the Dodgers for 4 2/3 innings before being lifted Friday.

Advice: It was a scoreless game when Poteet exited, so the quick hook didn’t cost him a win. Poteet is 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA in three starts this season. His stint in the rotation might only last until Gerrit Cole returns, but he’s been a pretty great stopgap so far. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago

    • Slated for bullpen session
Robertson (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Saturday, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Saturday will be Robertson's first bullpen since landing on the injured list May 26 due to right elbow inflammation. Before the injury, Robertson appeared in eight games for the Cardinals, registering a 4.38 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over 12.1 innings out of the bullpen. Rotowire.com Today, 4:16 pm

    • Lucas Erceg (forearm) throws bullpen session
Lucas Erceg, on the IL with a forearm strain, threw a 20-pitch bullpen session without incident Thursday.

Advice: Erceg will throw again Sunday. The setup man will be eligible to come off the IL on June 16, and it sounds like he might be ready then. Rotoworld Today, 3:58 pm

    • Astros confirm Tommy John surgery for Urquidy
José Urquidy underwent successful Tommy John surgery Wednesday, the Astros announced.

Advice: We know Urquidy underwent surgery Wednesday and everyone assumed it was Tommy John, but the Astros didn’t confirm it until today. Urquidy likely will attempt to return next August or September. One imagines the Astros will non-tender him this winter, particularly since he’ll be eligible for free agency after next year anyway. • Diamondbacks demote LHP Joe Jacques
Diamondbacks optioned LHP Joe Jacques to Triple-A Reno.

Advice: The move makes room for Thyago Vieira, who was claimed off waivers Thursday. Jacques spent just one game on Arizona’s active roster and did not get to pitch. Rotoworld Today, 2:42 pm
    • Undergoes Tommy John surgery
Urquidy underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Astros had only described Urquidy's surgery as "season-ending" prior to the operation, but it's now likely the 29-year-old righty remains out until the second half of the 2025 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career. He will finish 2024 with a 5.29 ERA and 1.43 WHIP across 63 innings and will enter his final year of arbitration eligibility this offseason. Rotowire.com Today, 2:40 pm

    • Sent back to Reno
The Diamondbacks optioned Jacques to Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Advice: One day after coming up from the minors, Jacques will now return to Triple-A following the arrival of Thyago Vieira, who was claimed off waivers from Baltimore on Thursday. Jacques has allowed seven earned runs in just 6.1 innings since joining the Diamondbacks organization in April, and a return to Arizona isn't likely, barring a significant turnaround.
