      Advice: Keller stymied the Angels on Monday night en route to his second career complete game -- his first was a shutout May 8, 2023 against Colorado. The Pirates right-hander induced a whopping 64.0 percent groundball-rate, easily his highest in a start this season, outpacing the 37.5 percent rate he generated on the season prior to Monday.       Mitch Keller pitched his second-career complete game on Monday and picked up his third win of the season against the Angels.

      Advice: Pittsburgh’s ace went the distance on Monday as he allowed just one earned run on five hits and stuck out five. His lone run came off a solo homer from Zach Neto. Keller threw 109 total pitches with 75 of them called strikes. In the final frame, Keller got Mickey Moniak and Taylor Ward to strike out and then had Willie Calhoun pop up to left center field.     • Blake Snell (adductor) to throw to hitters Tuesday
      Blake Snell (adductor) will face live hitters for three innings Tuesday.

      Advice: Snell came away from his bullpen session over the weekend well, and will now progress to facing hitters in as simulated setting. The southpaw could begin a rehab assignment a few days later if that assignment goes the way it’s supposed to. Snell could be back with the Giants by the end of the month.       Marlins activated INF Jake Burger (oblique) off the 10-day injured list.

      Advice: Burger is back after spending just under three weeks on the injured list with a left oblique strain. He returns to a .228/.281/.421 slash with three homers and 15 RBI in 16 games.       Advice: As anticipated, Burger is back with the big club after missing the last few weeks rehabbing from a left intercostal strain. He was a big piece of the Marlins' offense before landing on the IL, recording three homers, 15 RBI and eight runs scored over his first 16 games of the 2024 season.       Zack Wheeler fanned 11 and yielded only an unearned run over seven innings as the Phillies bested the Giants 6-1 on Monday.

      Advice: Wheeler got 16 of his 19 missed swings on fastballs and sinkers today and wound up with an excellent 40% CSW. He’s the easy NL Cy Young favorite at this point, having opened up 4-3 with a 1.64 ERA and a 63/13 K/BB ratio in 49 1/3 innings.       Bryce Harper went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in the win over the Giants on Monday.

      Giants manager Bob Melvin said Monday that Snell (thigh) will throw a three-inning live batting practice session Tuesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

      Advice: Snell was cleared to face hitters after a bullpen session Saturday went off without a hitch. The Giants will wait to see how the lefty responds to Tuesday's session before determining the next steps, but Snell is trending in a positive direction.     • Report: Royals reached out to ask for Arraez
      The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports that the Royals contacted the Marlins last week to discuss trading for Luis Arraez before the infielder was dealt to the Padres

      Advice: Rosenthal was quick to note that those talks “never advanced beyond the preliminary stage"; however, it’s interesting that the Royals even made the phone call because it tells us that the team is looking to capitalize on their fast start to the season which sees them just 2.5 games behind the Guardians in the AL Central. However, another interesting aspect of this is where the Royals may be looking to upgrade. Michael Massey has been pretty good at second base since coming off the IL and Vinnie Pasquantino is locked in at first base, so the Royals must have felt that Arraez could fill the DH spot, which means either Nelson Velazquez or Hunter Renfroe could be on notice in the midst of a slow start to the season.
