    • Joey Ortiz day-to-day with hamstring injury
Joey Ortiz is not in the Brewers’ lineup on Tuesday as he is undergoing testing on his hamstring.

Advice: Ortiz is being examined today after missing yesterday’s game with a sore right hamstring. Since the Brewers have an off day tomorrow, Ortiz being on the bench on Wednesday allows him to have more rest. We’ll likely know more about his status after the game today. Oliver Dunn is starting at third base for Ortiz on Wednesday and batting eighth. Rotoworld Today, 9:18 am

    • Call-up official
The Nationals recalled Lipscomb from Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday.

Advice: As expected, Washington placed Joey Gallo (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move to clear room on the 26-man active roster for Lipscomb. Though he stole 10 bases over 121 plate appearances with the Nationals earlier this season, the 23-year-old slashed just .252/.331/.290 and has been even more unproductive at the Triple-A level (.576 OPS in 98 plate appearances). He could have to settle for a short-side platoon role while he's up with the Nationals, as manager Dave Martinez could first turn to Joey Meneses to replace Gallo as a regular in the lineup. • Remains out Wednesday
Ortiz (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Blue Jays.

Advice: Ortiz will miss a second straight start with a right hamstring issue. He still needs to undergo testing but is optimistic he won't require an extended absence, per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Oliver Dunn will fill in for Ortiz at third base Wednesday. Rotowire.com Today, 8:31 am

    • Heading to bench Wednesday
Turner is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: Turner will head to the bench for the second time in the series, opening up the designated-hitter spot for Daniel Vogelbach in the finale. Though he's begun to heat up in June with a .400 on-base percentage and .407 slugging percentage, Turner is still maintaining a .676 OPS on the season, the worst mark of his career since he became an everyday player in the big leagues. • Nationals call up Lipscomb to replace Gallo
Nationals recalled INF Trey Lipscomb from Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: Lipscomb replaces Joey Gallo, who injured his hamstring. This will be Lipscomb’s third stint with the Nationals this season. In 33 games, he had a .252 AVG and a .621 OPS but a solid 19.4 percent strikeout rate and 10 steals. His speed would give him some deep league value if he gets a chance to play regularly, but he can be left on the waiver wire in most league types. Rotoworld Today, 7:53 am

    • Passan: Dodgers acquire Biggio from Blue Jays
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Dodgers acquired INF/OF Cavan Biggio from the Blue Jays for minor league reliever Braydon Fisher.

Advice: The 29-year-old Biggio was waived by Toronto last week after hitting .200/.323/.291 with two home runs in 131 plate appearances in 2024. It was a disappointing start to the season after Biggio seemed to unlock something in the second half of last season when he hit .272/.404/.361 in 52 games. Over the last two seasons, Biggio has played every position in the field other than pitcher and catcher, so the Dodgers clearly see some value in his ability to move on all over and post near 80 percent contact rates. We’ll see if they can get a new level of production out of him, but he should remain on fantasy waiver wires for now. Rotoworld Today, 7:41 am

    • Bound for big leagues
The Nationals plan to call up Lipscomb from Triple-A Rochester ahead of Wednesday's game in Detroit, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: He'll likely join the 26-man active roster as a replacement for first baseman/outfielder Joey Gallo, who is expected to go on the 10-day injured list after straining his hamstring in Tuesday's 5-4 win. Between his previous two stints in the majors this season, Lipscomb slashed an underwhelming .252/.331/.290 over 121 plate appearances, though he contributed 10 stolen bases on 11 attempts. Lipscomb had served mostly as an everyday player at third base when he was up with the Nationals earlier this season, but he could be relegated to a short-side platoon role if Washington elects to have Joey Meneses replace Gallo as a regular in the lineup. • Traded to Dodgers
The Dodgers acquired Biggio from the Blue Jays on Wednesday in exchange for right-hander Braydon Fisher, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Biggio had been designated for assignment after slashing just .200/.323/.291 through 130 plate appearances this season. The 29-year-old will provide defensive versatility for the Dodgers, having played every position in the pro ranks other than pitcher and catcher. Biggio is making $4.21 million this season and has one year of arbitration eligibility remaining. Rotowire.com Today, 6:35 am

    • Fills in at shortstop
Duran started at shortstop and went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 15-2 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Duran started in place of the injured Corey Seager (hamstring), who missed a fourth consecutive game. Josh Smith has served as the primary fill-in when Seager's been unavailable this season, but Smith was given a break Tuesday. Duran produced a run on a sacrifice fly in the second inning then popped his second home run of the season in the seventh. He has a modest seven-game hit streak (8-for-25, seven RBI) and hit safely in 14 of the previous 16 games. The Rangers maintain that Seager's injury is not serious and are not considering a stint on the IL. Rotowire.com Today, 4:28 am
