    • Fans seven in no-decision
Assad allowed one run on five hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over five innings in a no-decision against San Francisco on Monday.

Advice: Assad needed 92 pitches to get through five frames, but he was effective during his time on the mound, limiting the Giants to just a fourth-inning run. However, the right-hander couldn't pick up his first win since mid-May, as Chicago's offense wasn't able to push across a run until after his departure. Nonetheless, this was a nice bounce-back for Assad after he surrendered seven earned runs over 10.1 frames across his previous two outings. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago

    • Wild but effective Monday
Hicks allowed four hits and four walks while striking out four batters over five scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Monday.

Advice: Hicks recently battled an illness but was able to take his regular turn in the rotation Monday. He threw only 48 of 87 pitches for strikes and tied a season high in issuing four free passes, but he was able to work around constant traffic on the basepaths to finish with five scoreless frames. It was the first time Hicks has held an opponent scoreless since his season debut against San Diego on March 30, though he's been quite reliable in yielding three or fewer earned runs in all but one of his 15 outings. The right-hander holds a 2.82 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 68:28 K:BB through 76.2 innings on the season. Rotowire.com Today, 9:18 pm

    • Cruises to easy win
Peterson allowed two runs on four hits and three walks over six innings Monday, striking out six and earning a win over the Rangers.

Advice: Peterson delivered a quality start as the Mets piled on 14 runs of support in the victory. He's earned three straight wins and has produced a quality start in two of his first four outings this season. He dropped his ERA to 3.97 with a 12:8 K:BB through 22.2 innings. Peterson also generated a season-high 11 whiffs, including six with his fastball. His next start is expected to be on the road against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Today, 8:29 pm

    • Assad allows one in five innings against Giants
Javier Assad allowed one run in five innings and got a no-decision against the Giants on Monday.

Advice: Assad gave up five hits, walked two and struck out seven. He won four of his first nine starts of the season, but hasn’t won any of his last six starts. Assad struck out at least seven batters for the fourth time in his last five starts. His ERA is now 2.75 on the year. The 26-year-old right-hander is set to face the Mets at home this weekend.

    • Hicks throws five shutout innings against Cubs
Jordan Hicks threw five shutout innings and got a no-decision against the Cubs on Monday.

Advice: Hicks gave up four hits, walked four and struck out four. It was a solid start for Hicks, who lowered his ERA to 2.82 on the season with the effort. The converted reliever hasn’t completed six innings in a start since April, but he continues to pitch well while he’s out there. The 27-year-old right-hander is set to face his former team the Cardinals on the road this weekend.

    • Goes six innings in loss
Spiers (0-1) took the loss Monday versus the Pirates after he gave up four runs on seven hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Spiers gave up five hits and all four runs in the first two innings before settling in nicely. The 26-year-old had impressed as a multi-inning reliever, leading to the opportunity in the rotation. There is no word yet on whether he will get another turn through the rotation, but the 3.20 ERA through 25.1 innings this season should keep him in the conversation. • Peterson wins third consecutive start Monday
David Peterson allowed two runs in six innings and got the win in the Mets’ 14-2 victory over the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Peterson gave up four hits, walked three and struck out six. He’s now won three consecutive starts and the six strikeouts were a season-high. A former first round pick by the Mets in 2017, Peterson is once again getting a chance in the Mets’ rotation and seems to be making the most of it. He struggled with a 5.03 ERA in 27 appearances last year, but his 3.59 xFIP suggested he wasn’t quite that bad. He now has a 3.97 ERA in four starts this year. The 28-year-old left-hander is set to face the Cubs on the road this weekend.

    • Gives up season-high six runs
Vasquez (1-4) took the loss after he gave up six runs in 4.1 innings Monday against the Phillies. He allowed 12 hits, walked two, and struck out two.

Advice: Vasquez was knocked around by the Phillies on Monday, and the 12 hits he allowed were a career high for the righty. Home runs by Kyle Schwarber and Alec Bohm accounted for most of the damage, but Vasquez was working around baserunners all evening. The 25-year-old has now given up at least three runs in seven of his nine starts this season and has a 5.70 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 28:9 K:BB across 42.2 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 7:18 pm

    • Takes loss Monday
Miller (4-5) retired three batters with a strikeout but allowed a solo home run to take the loss in Monday's 2-1 defeat against Atlanta.

Advice: Ozzie Albies took Miller deep with two outs in the eighth, and then the righty got stuck with the loss when the Tigers couldn't muster any more offense. The veteran has now been scored upon in his last two outings, pushing his season ERA up to 4.03. Despite the recent struggles, Miller should hold onto a high-leverage bullpen role due to his track record the past few years. Rotowire.com Today, 7:16 pm
