    • Braves coaches think Acuña needs a “detox”
      According to Ken Suguira of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves gave Ronald Acuña Jr. the day off on Wednesday because they wanted him to “detox” as a way to break his slump.

      Advice: Acuña’s batting average (.245), slugging percentage (.342), and home-run rate (one per 51.7 at-bats) are all beneath the single-season lows in his seven-year career, as the 26-year-old tries to follow up a historically good season. “You can just read their faces sometimes, and actions,” said Braves coach Brian Snitker. “And it’s like, ‘Well, it’s time.’ Kid needs a little breather here. He’s played every inning of every game. It’s not a bad thing to sit and watch sometimes.” Braves coaches, Eddie Pérez and Tom Goodwin, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that they believe that Acuña is pressing. “Sometimes, you force some things,” Goodwin said. Perhaps with a short break, Acuña will get back to the level everybody has seen him produce at before. Fantasy managers should clearly keep him in the lineup and hope he gets it going soon.       Murphy (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment next week, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: The catcher has been out since Opening Day after suffering an oblique strain, and Atlanta has taken things slowly with him so far. Murphy now appears to be in the final stages of his recovery, but given the amount of time he's missed, his rehab assignment could last more than just a few days.       Pfaadt came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Reds, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out nine.

      Advice: The right-hander generated 30 called or swinging strikes on 93 pitches in one of his best performances of the season, and his only real mistake resulted in a Santiago Espinal solo shot in the fifth inning. Pfaadt extended his quality start streak to four with the effort, a stretch in which he's posted a 3.24 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 24:4 K:BB through 25 innings.       Pepiot (leg) threw a bullpen session Tuesday and is likely to throw a simulated game in the near future, MLB.com reports.

      Advice: The exact next steps for Pepiot are unclear, but he is on the road with the team and is still aiming to return after a minimum term on the injured list.       Brandon Pfaadt recorded nine strikeouts and allowed one run over seven innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Reds.

      Advice: Pfaadt surrendered just two hits and a pair of walks over seven frames, trading zeroes with opposing starter Andrew Abbott into the late innings of a throwback pitcher’s duel, with a fifth-inning solo shot by utilityman Santiago Espinal accounting for the only damage against him. The 25-year-old righty generated just eight swinging strikes, but threw an impressive 61 of 93 pitches for strikes. He’ll carry a strong 4.17 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 51/10 K/BB ratio across 54 innings (nine starts) into a challenging road tilt on Tuesday against the division-rival Dodgers.       Advice: It’s been a very slow and methodical progression for Murphy, who was diagnosed with a Grade 1 oblique strain at the end of March. He should only need a couple of games in the minor leagues before he’s ready to return to the Braves’ lineup. If all goes well, it’s possible that he could be ready to return next weekend.       Advice: Both runs against Bradish came on a Bo Bichette double in the third inning. The right-hander was pulled after throwing 85 pitches, as the Orioles continue to limit Bradish's pitch count after he missed the first month of the season with a strained UCL. The 27-year-old Bradish sports a 2.63 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB across his first three starts (13.2 innings) this season.
