    • Dakota Hudson gives up four runs in loss to Giants
Dakota Hudson surrendered four runs in 3 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Giants.

Advice: Hudson is going to have to be a little better than this in order to get a chance to make a run at 20 losses this year. He’s currently 0-6 with a 6.35 ERA and an ugly 20/22 K/BB ratio in 34 innings. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

    • José Buttó earns win for Mets in St. Louis
José Buttó allowed three runs in five innings against the Cardinals to earn the win on Tuesday.

Advice: Buttó was more gritty than good in this one. He gave up a lead-off home run to Brendan Donovan and two more runs in the first before settling down and willing his way through five innings. Command was an issue for Buttó in this one, as just 35% of his pitches were in the zone and he walked three with just three strikeouts. The Mets rotation is getting crowded with Christian Scott’s promotion and Tylor Megill, David Peterson, and Kodai Senga working back from injury. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago

    • Miles Mikolas falls apart in fifth inning
Miles Mikolas surrendered six runs over four-plus innings in a loss to the Mets on Tuesday.

Advice: Mikolas cruised through the first four innings before the Mets jumped all over him for six hits and six earned runs to chase him before recording an out in the fifth. It was Mikolas’ second time facing the Mets in three starts and they were able to get to him. His ERA rose to 6.43. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago

    • Colin Rea surrenders four runs to Royals
Colin Rea surrendered four runs in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday versus the Royals.

Advice: All of the runs came in the fifth, which started off with an MJ Melendez triple to right that probably ought to have been caught by Sal Frelick. Had that turned into the out, Rea likely gets through five scoreless and gets to open the sixth. To be fair, though, the Royals did hit Rea quite hard over the rest of the fifth. Thanks to a late comeback, Rea avoided what would have been his first loss. He remains 3-0 with a 3.29 ERA. Rotoworld Today, 7:49 pm

    • Gets bailed out by offense
Maeda allowed seven runs on five hits across only two innings of work but did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 11-7 win over the Guardians. He walked three and struck out one.

Advice: Maeda wasn't very good in this one, but he escaped his second loss of the season thanks to a ton of run support. The veteran righty is now sitting with a subpar 6.75 ERA across his first seven starts with the Tigers, though he had only allowed one run over 11 innings in his previous two appearances coming into Tuesday, so there were some signs he was turning things around before this dud. Home runs have been a problem, as the 36-year-old has now allowed nine of them in 30.2 innings. Maeda will look to keep the ball in the park and post a better line in his next scheduled start, which is penciled in for Monday against the Marlins. Rotowire.com Today, 7:29 pm

    • Randy Vásquez strikes out six over 4 1/3 innings
Randy Vásquez allowed one earned run over 4 1/3 innings while striking out six in the Padres’ loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Vásquez’s lone blemish of the night came on a solo home run from Cody Bellinger. He would be pulled with one out in the fifth after allowing a single to Miguel Amaya, but managed to lower his ERA to 4.50 on the season and has allowed one earned run in two of his three starts on the year. His six strikeouts marks a new career-high for Vásquez, who will make his next start on Monday against the Rockies. Rotoworld Today, 7:24 pm

    • Luis Gil handles Astros in win on Tuesday
Luis Gil allowed one run on one hit in six innings in a win over the Astros.

Advice: Gil was effectively wild on Tuesday, which is something we’ve come to expect from the 25-year-old. He walked four on the day and had just a 42 percent zone rate; however, he also had a 23 percent whiff rate and struck out five batters. Much of Gil’s success came on the changeup which had a 40 percent whiff rate, while his four-seam fastball was his most effective strike pitch. At some point, Gil is not going to be able to keep walking this tightrope, but he has a 2.92 ERA on the season and has two solid outings coming up against the Rays and White Sox. • Patrick Sandoval lights out in win over Pirates
Patrick Sandoval threw seven shutout innings in a win over the Pirates, allowing just three hits and striking out seven.

Advice: Sandoval came into the game with a 3.84 SIERA compared to a 5.91 ERA, so there were a few signs that his surface-level stats didn’t reflect his true performance. He had also allowed a career-low barrel rate while registering a career-high strikeout rate. That positive regression seemed to strike on Tuesday as he registered a tremendous 34 percent whiff rate and 37 percent CSW. All of his pitches performed well, but his changeup and slider were particularly sharp in the outing. He now has a 4.85 ERA and can be started in deeper leagues this weekend against a solid Royals lineup. Rotoworld Today, 6:58 pm
    • Quinn Priester has rough outing in loss to LAA
Quinn Priester allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Angels.

Advice: Priester walked two and struck out just one on the day. He posted just a nine percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW, which is really uninspiring against an Angels lineup that doesn’t have Mike Trout, Anthony Rendon, or Luis Rengifo. Priester does have a 3.86 ERA on the season, but he’s not a recommended start in Milwaukee next week. Rotoworld Today, 6:54 pm
