    • Bryan Bello returning Sunday against Nationals
Bryan Bello (lat) struck out five over 2 2/3 innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Double-A Portland.

Advice: Bello told reporters following the 52-pitch rehab outing that he’ll start on Sunday against the Nationals at Fenway Park instead of making any additional rehab tune-ups. The 24-year-old righty has been out since late April due to right lat tightness. Rotoworld Today, 4:54 pm

    • Returning Sunday
Bello (lat) said Tuesday that he will start Sunday's game against the Nationals, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Bello made a rehab appearance Tuesday at Double-A Portland, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out five batters across 2.2 innings. Despite his unremarkable performance, the right-hander said he came away from the start without any pain and is ready to return to Boston's rotation. Bello holds a 3.04 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 26.2 innings so far this year. Rotowire.com Today, 4:25 pm

    • Grayson Rodriguez unlikely to require rehab start
Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) continued playing catch on Tuesday.

Advice: Rodriguez expressed optimism to reporters that he could return to Baltimore’s starting rotation following a minimum stay on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation. It certainly doesn’t sound like there are any long-term concerns with the 24-year-old burgeoning ace. He should be able to jump right back into the Orioles’ stacked rotation mix by mid-May without a minor league rehab assignment. Rotoworld Today, 1:26 pm

    • Could return once eligible
Rodriguez (shoulder) "feels much better" and hopes to be reinstated once he becomes eligible May 15, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reported Tuesday.

Advice: Rodriguez has battled inflammation in his shoulder throughout May. However, per Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com, his move to the 15-day IL was to prevent the issue from developing into anything more serious, and he could return to the O's without a rehab start. Rodriguez has a 4-1 record with a 3.71 ERA through six starts and would likely replace Cole Irvin in the rotation once available. Rotowire.com Today, 1:07 pm

    • Swipes bag Monday
Tatis went 1-for-5 with a run and a stolen base in Monday's 6-3 win against the Cubs.

Advice: Tatis helped generate San Diego's first run, reaching on a leadoff single in the sixth inning, advancing to second on another single, then taking part in a double steal with Jake Cronenworth before both players scored on a Jurickson Profar hit. Tatis has been somewhat quiet at the plate this season, but he's still been moderately productive with a .248/.327/.442 slash line, seven homers, 20 RBI, 28 runs and five stolen bases through 168 plate appearances. He's gone 7-for-23 with a homer, a steal, six runs and three RBI through the first five games of May. Rotowire.com Today, 9:47 am
    • Making progress with knee
Buxton (knee) has been running in a pool and participating in his normal workouts, but has not been swinging a bat, Dan Hayes of the TheAthletic.com reports.

Advice: An MRI on Buxton's injured right knee Thursday showed only inflammation and no structural damage. Buxton is optimistic he can return when eligible to come off the IL on May 12. However, the Twins may want to wait two more days until the Twins return from Toronto so he can avoid the AstroTurf of the Rogers Centre. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:08 pm

    • Yu Darvish spins five scoreless frames vs. Cubs
Yu Darvish tossed five shutout innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

Advice: Darvish has reeled off 10 consecutive scoreless frames in a pair of starts since returning from a two-week absence due to neck tightness. The 37-year-old veteran righty finished with five strikeouts, and only issued one walk, scattering three hits over five frames in his return to Wrigley Field. He generated 15 swinging strikes and finished with a respectable 28 percent CSW, despite throwing 62 of 83 pitches for strikes. He’ll bring a strong 2.94 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 30/11 K/BB ratio across 33 2/3 innings (seven starts) into a challenging matchup on Sunday against the division-rival Dodgers. Advice: Darvish scattered baserunners throughout his outing but ultimately kept the Cubs quiet for five innings. He was 0-1 with a 4.18 ERA before a brief stint on the injured list. Since returning, he's fired 10 shutout frames and dropped that number to 2.94 across seven starts. Darvish matched his season best with 15 swinging strikes, eight of which came via the slider. Darvish is in line for a tough home matchup with the Dodgers this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:19 pm

    • Goes the distance in victory
Keller (3-3) allowed one run, five hits and one walk in a complete game victory Monday against the Angels. He struck out five.

Advice: Keller stymied the Angels on Monday night en route to his second career complete game -- his first was a shutout May 8, 2023 against Colorado. The Pirates right-hander induced a whopping 64.0 percent groundball-rate, easily his highest in a start this season, outpacing the 37.5 percent rate he generated on the season prior to Monday. Keller is scheduled to make his next start against the Cubs at home this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:05 pm
