      Robert Suárez retired one of the two batters he faced for a save Friday against the Royals.

      Advice: The Padres were up 11-3 heading to the bottom of the ninth, but Stephen Kolek gave up hits to six of the eight batters he faced. That created a save situation for Suárez with the bases loaded in an 11-6 game.       Hoffman earned the save in Friday's 4-2 win over the Cardinals, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

      Jeff Hoffman slammed the door on the Cardinals in the ninth inning on Friday night, protecting a two-run lead to earn his fifth save of the season.

      Advice: The 31-year-old hurler came on with a two-run advantage to protect against the heart of the Cardinals’ lineup. He made it look easy, getting Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Gorman on swinging third strikes before retiring Nolan Arenado on a fly ball to right to end it.       Soto went 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBI in Thursday's win over the Angels while also drawing two walks.

      Advice: The right fielder walked in his second plate appearance before coming around to score on a home run from Aaron Judge. Soto would later add a bases-loaded triple in the seventh as he reached base three times for the second consecutive game.       Advice: Rodon ran through the Angels' lineup for most of the night, surrendering one run over the first six frames while producing five 1-2-3 innings. However, the veteran lefty would run into trouble in the seventh after allowing the first three batters to reach, paving the way for Ian Hamilton to take over in relief.       Carlos Rodón gave up three runs over six innings to pick up a win Thursday over the Angels.

      Advice: Rodón allowed just one run over the first six innings, but a pair of runs were charged to him in the seventh to turn an excellent start into a solid if unspectacular effort. The southpaw struck out five and walked one, and he’s still the owner of a 3.09 effort for his troubles in 2024. Rodón will get another chance to pitch Wednesday against the Twins.       Verdugo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 2-1 victory against the Angels.

      Advice: Verdugo's fourth-inning solo shot equaled the margin of victory in the pitching-dominated matchup. The long ball was his eighth of the season, putting Verdugo well on pace to surpass the career-best mark of 13 homers that he's reached two separate seasons.
