    Estevez picked up the save Tuesday against Oakland, allowing one hit with two strikeouts across a scoreless ninth inning.

    Advice: Estevez's streak of eight consecutive perfect innings came to an end Tuesday. However, he converted on his ninth straight save attempt and hasn't allowed an earned run since May 20th. While saves have come at a premium for an Angels team that rests 12 games below .500, Estevez has made the most of his opportunity and is on pace for career lows in ERA and WHIP.   • Swipes two bags
    Lowe went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and two stolen bases Tuesday against Seattle.

    Advice: Lowe has started to heat up at the plate, as he's gone 11-for-30 with three homers, seven RBI and six runs scored across his last eight games. He's also shown a desire to steal bases, swiping three bags across his last three starts.   • Carlos Estévez strikes out two for 15th save
    Carlos Estévez struck out two in a scoreless ninth for his 15th save Tuesday against the A’s.

    Advice: Estévez came up one batter shy of completing a closer’s perfect game; he’d retired 26 straight over nine outings before giving up a single to Tyler Soderstrom tonight.   • Earns 25th save
    Clase earned a save against the Orioles on Tuesday, allowing one hit and no walks with one strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.

    Advice: Clase was called upon to protect a 10-8 lead in the ninth inning and did so on just 14 pitches. Clase has eight saves in June and leads the American League with 25 total saves in what has been an amazing 2024 campaign. The 26-year-old is now 25-for-28 in save chances this season with a 0.70 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 39:4 K:BB in 38.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:48 pm
     
  • Cole: velocity dip versus Mets intentional
    Gerrit Cole said after Tuesday’s start that he’s healthy and that he intentionally dialed back his velocity tonight after a long first inning.

    Advice: Cole topped out at 98.9 mph in the first tonight, but he was often throwing 92-93 mph in the second. He did pick it up some in the end, throwing his final fastball 95.3 mph, but it was an awfully discouraging performance. It’s good to know he doesn’t think he’s hurt, though.   • Cole allows four home runs in loss
    Gerrit Cole allowed six runs on seven hits in four innings in a loss to the Mets on Tuesday.

    Advice: There’s a fair amount to be concerned about here. The Yankees ace walked four and struck out nobody on the day. His fastball sat 95.4 mph on the day which was down 1.3 mph from his first start. He hit 98 mph in the first inning but by the third inning, he threw only four fastballs and just one was over 94 mph. Home runs hit by Mark Vientos and Harrison Bader were on fastballs that were 91.5 and 93.2 mph. Given that Cole’s elbow injury to start the year involved some nerve issues, there’s a concern that there remains a lingering impact on Cole’s health or performance. It could also just be one bad start, but this is the second outing of his career that he did not strike out any batters and the other was on May 20, 2016, so it’s certainly a performance we want to take note of.   • Brayan Bello shellacked in loss to Blue Jays
    Brayan Bello allowed seven runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

    Advice: Bello held the Blue Jays scoreless for the first two innings, but the wheels fell off in a big way in the third inning. The first six batters of the inning reached before Bello could get a groundout, but then a home run to George Springer chased him from the game. The right-hander did get six whiffs on 20 swings in his limited time but he threw on 42 percent of his pitches in the strike zone and had no feel for anything on the night. After a strong start to the season, Bello has struggled over his final seven starts, and the loss of feel for his changeup, which has been his primary pitch in his young career, is concerning.   • Emmanuel Clase silences O’s to net 25th save
    Emmanuel Clase tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday against the Orioles to record his 25th save of the season.

    Advice: Clase was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the ninth inning at Camden Yards and managed to work around a one-out double from pinch-hitter Cedric Mullins to notch another save. The hard-throwing 26-year-old stopper has picked up four saves in the last week alone as Cleveland continues stringing together victories. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:27 pm
     
  • Zac Gallen (hamstring) decision coming this week
    Zac Gallen (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Thursday.

    Advice: Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters they’ll make a decision on Gallen’s next step following his latest throwing session. The hope here for fantasy managers is that the 28-year-old ace will be ready to jump right back into Arizona’s starting rotation without needing a rehab assignment.
