• Jesus Luzardo (back) won’t start Saturday
Jesus Luzardo (back) won’t start for the Marlins on Saturday, according to Daniel Alvarez-Montes.

  • Missing Saturday's start
Luzardo (back) won't start Saturday's game against the Mariners, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Advice: Luzardo experienced back tightness in his last start and was pulled after 77 pitches and showed decreased velocity. While the Marlins initially listed Luzardo as their probable pitcher Saturday, they'll refrain from putting the 26-year-old lefty on the mound against Seattle and give him some extra rest. Miami could possibly push Luzardo's start back a day, with Braxton Garrett filling in Saturday, but it's more likely Luzardo won't pitch until his next turn in the rotation. • Moved up to start Sunday
Severino will move up in the Mets' rotation to start Sunday against the Cubs, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: Severino had been slated to start Tuesday versus his former club, the Yankees, but will be bumped up a couple days to take the ball on regular rest. David Peterson had been on turn for Sunday but now figures to take the ball next week against the Yankees. Rotowire.com Today, 9:32 am
  • Notches eighth victory
Stone (8-2) earned the win over Colorado on Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings.

Advice: Stone performed well in the Colorado altitude, as none of the four hits against him went for extra bases. The right-hander was working on a shutout through five frames but fell off in the sixth inning, loading the bases with one out on a pair of walks and a single before getting the hook. Two of those three runners scored after his departure, but that didn't prevent Stone from registering the win. The 25-year-old has become a key part of Los Angeles' rotation in his first full MLB campaign, leading the team with eight victories while posting a 3.04 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 63:25 K:BB over 80 innings. • Zac Gallen (hamstring) to throw sim game next week
Zac Gallen (hamstring) is scheduled to throw another simulated game early next week.

Advice: The hope here is that Gallen will be ready to be activated, without requiring a minor league rehab assignment, after next week’s simulated game. The 28-year-old righty has been on the shelf since late May after suffering a Grade 1 right hamstring strain. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:46 pm

  • Lit up for seven runs
Gil (9-2) was hit with the loss against the Orioles on Thursday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings.

Advice: Gil struggled out of the gate, surrendering a leadoff double to open the contest before eventually allowing one run in the first. However, things would get much worse for the right-hander in the following frame, as he failed to retire nine of the next 10 batters he faced, leading to his shortest outing of the campaign. Gil gave up a season-high seven runs on the afternoon and failed to make it through six innings for the third consecutive start. It also marked his first loss since April 15 against Toronto. • Gil hammered for seven runs against Orioles
Luis Gil allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Orioles on Thursday.

Advice: Gil gave up eight hits, walked two and struck out one. He was due to have a bad start. Gil entered the game with a .194 BABIP allowed and 83 percent left on base percentage. Both of those took a hit in the seven-run blow up. Gil’s ERA is up to 2.77 on the season. He’ll look to bounce back against the Mets on the road next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:27 pm

  • Stone gives up two runs in win over Rockies
Gavin Stone allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings and got the win in the Dodgers’ 5-3 victory over the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: Stone gave up four hits, walked two and struck out seven. Both runs came on a Jake Cave two-run single in the sixth inning. The win was Stone’s eighth of the year and he’s now won four of his last five starts. He’s also struck out at least six batters in four of his last five starts. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the White Sox on the road next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:53 pm

  • Good to go for Saturday's start
The Marlins list Luzardo (back) as their probable pitcher for Saturday's game against the Mariners, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Luzardo pitched with some back stiffness in his last outing in Sunday's loss to the Nationals, getting pulled after five innings and 77 pitches while displaying decreased velocity. He's evidently bounced back fine, though, and appears good to go this weekend for a matchup against Seattle at home. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:57 am
