    • Ends homer drought
Suarez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-9 loss to the Mets.

Advice: Suarez went yard in the sixth inning for just his fourth home run in 56 games this season. The blast ended a 19-game stretch without a home run and was his first hit in 13 at-bats. Suarez is batting .211 with a .597 OPS, 26 RBI and 21 runs scored in his first season with the Diamondbacks. Rotowire.com Today, 5:37 am
    • Sharp in Friday's no-decision
Berrios came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-innings win over the Pirates, allowing one run on six hits over seven innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.

Advice: The right-hander pounded the zone in his fourth straight quality start and 10th in 12 trips to the mound this season, firing 69 of 101 pitches for strikes. Berrios is tracking toward a career year, and he'll take a 2.78 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 58:18 K:BB through 74.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Orioles. • Goes deep again
Arenado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Arenado has homered in each of his last two games. The third baseman's power numbers are still way down -- he's at five homers and a .379 slugging percentage through 53 contests -- but his recent stretch could be a sign of him heating up. On the year, he's batting .257 with 26 RBI, 22 runs scored, 10 doubles and no stolen bases over 226 plate appearances. Not counting the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Arenado hasn't hit less than 26 home runs since 2014, but he needs to get going to hit that mark this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:03 pm

    • José Berríos allows one earned run in no-decision
José Berríos struck out five Pirates across seven innings on Friday in a no-decision. He allowed six hits and didn’t walk a batter.

Advice: Berríos leaned into his trusted slurve in this one and kept the Pirates off-balance all night. He’s allowed more than three earned runs in just one start this season while completing at least six innings 10 times in 12 starts. That’s as steady as they come. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:05 pm
    • Alexis Díaz nearly blows save versus Cubs
Alexis Díaz escaped with his 11th save after giving up a run in the ninth Friday against the Reds.

Advice: Díaz got lucky when a pitch that hit both Nick Madigal’s hand and the knob of his bat was ruled a foul ball and was then fortunate again when Madrigal, as the tying run, was thrown out at home plate trying to score on Seiya Suzuki’s double. Díaz has a 5.91 ERA this season. He’s walked 15 and hit three batters in 21 1/3 innings. He’s simply not worthy of trust right now, but since he’s blown only two saves and the Reds don’t have anyone else they’re really wanting to turn to, he’ll probably remain in the closer’s role for now. Lucas Sims is likely still second in line, even if Fernando Cruz is the more interesting reliever these days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:40 pm

    • Walks tightrope for 11th save
Diaz earned the save Friday against the Cubs despite allowing a run on two hits in a walk in the ninth inning.

Advice: Diaz allowed the first two baserunners to reach safely before surrendering a one-out double to Seiya Suzuki. While one run scored on the play, Jacob Hurtubise would throw out Nick Madrigal at the plate as the tying run before Diaz got Cody Bellinger to fly out, sealing a 5-4 victory. While it didn't come easy for Diaz on Friday, he's now converted four straight save opportunities while allowing just one earned run in his last 5.2 innings. Diaz's ERA still sits at an uninspiring 5.91 with a 1.55 WHP and 22:15 K:BB across 21.1 innings this year. He's converted 11 of 13 save chances overall. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:40 pm

    • Kerry Carpenter dealing with lumbar spine fracture
The Tigers announced Friday that Kerry Carpenter is dealing with a lumbar spine fracture — not just inflammation as previously announced.

Advice: No word yet on an updated timeline, but there are rumblings that the 26-year-old slugger is going to miss at least a couple of months. That would be a devastating blow to the middle of the Tigers’ lineup, as Carpenter as been the team’s best hitter through the first two months of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:01 pm

    • Has stress fracture in back
Carpenter has been diagnosed with a lumbar spine stress fracture, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Carpenter was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier this week with what was called lumbar spine inflammation, but further testing appears to have revealed a more significant injury. The Tigers have not divulged a potential timetable for Carpenter's return, but his absence could be a lengthy one. Akil Baddoo should continue to see his playing time rise while Carpenter is on the shelf. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:00 pm

    • Requires UCL surgery
Orioles GM Mike Elias announced Friday that Wells will undergo surgery to repair his right elbow's UCL and will miss the remainder of the season, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Wells had begun playing catch while on the road to recovery for his elbow, but his discomfort continued, which will now lead to a season-ending surgery. Elias also stated that it's unknown whether Wells will be getting Tommy John surgery, though more information should be disclosed once the reliever goes in for the procedure.
