    • J-Rod hits game-tying homer in ninth vs. White Sox
Julio Rodríguez hit a game-tying homer in the ninth inning against the White Sox, but the Mariners fell to Chicago in extra-innings.

Advice: With the Mariners trailing 2-1, J-Rod obliterated a Michael Kopech fastball to right-center field that tied the game at 2-2. The outfielder now has six homers on the season; a disappointing total for a player who many (justifiably) thought would be among the league leaders in 2024. Anyone who saw his swing tonight knows that he’s capable of — and likely going to — doing much more going forward. Rotoworld Today, 9:23 pm

    • Burger blasts sixth home run Thursday
Jake Burger went 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run against the Mets on Thursday.

Advice: Burger’s home run was just his sixth of the season in 47 games after homering 34 times in 141 games last year. His .128 ISO isn’t even half of the .268 ISO he had last year. On the bright side, he’s 21-for-64 (.328) with three home runs in his last 16 games to bring his average up to .222. Rotoworld Today, 7:00 pm

    • Earns ninth save
Fairbanks earned a save against the Cubs on Thursday, allowing one walk in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Entering with a 3-2 lead in the ninth inning, Fairbanks walked Michael Busch with one out but induced a game-ending double play to secure the save. Since returning from injury on May 11, Fairbanks is six-for-six in save chances and has not allowed an earned run in 14 innings of work. On the season, Fairbanks is 9-for-10 in save chances with a 3.00 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 23:11 K:BB in 21 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 6:56 pm
    • Fairbanks picks up save against Cubs Thursday
Pete Fairbanks tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: The save was Fairbanks’ ninth of the season. He walked Michael Busch with one out before getting Nico Hoerner to ground into a double play to end the game. Fairbanks has now converted on six consecutive save opportunities. The last time he blew a save chance was April 17th. His ERA is now 3.00 on the season. Fairbanks already has four saves in June. • Breaks homer drought
Rizzo went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Royals.

Advice: The first baseman snapped a streak of 27 games without a long ball when he took John Schreiber deep in the eighth inning. Rizzo received back-to-back days off earlier this week for a mental reset, and he entered Thursday's game in a 2-for-37 slump during June. He currently sits at .223/.282/.344 slash line with eight home runs and 27 RBI for the season. Rotowire.com Today, 2:14 pm
    • Timely double in loss
Gelof went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in a loss to the Padres on Wednesday.

Advice: Gelof's eighth-inning two-bagger brought home Seth Brown to extend the Athletics' lead to 4-2 at the time. The infielder now has a trio of two-hit efforts in the last seven games, but his 33.3 percent strikeout rate in that same span is emblematic of the persistent struggles that have led to his .194 average and .572 OPS across 203 plate appearances this season. • Initiates rehab assignment Tuesday
Marte (suspension) began a rehab assignment Tuesday and is a combined 3-for-10 with a double and two runs scored in two games for Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Marte, who is in the final two weeks of an 80-game suspension after testing positive for a banned substance (Boldenone), served at third base Tuesday then designated hitter Wednesday and played all nine innings in each contest. He's eligible to return from suspension June 27. Marte slashed .316/.366/.456 in 35 games and 123 plate appearances in the big leagues last season and is expected to be the team's primary third baseman once ready. • Building at-bats at Reno
Diamondbacks GM Mike Hazen indicated Wednesday that Lawlar will stay at Triple-A Reno for now, Kevin Zimmerman of Arizona Sports reports.

Advice: Lawlar was activated off the injured list this week and played his second game for Reno on Wednesday. With changes afoot on the Diamondbacks -- primary shortstop Geraldo Perdomo is off the IL, and manager Torey Lovullo said Blaze Alexander will see more time at third base in place of the slumping Eugenio Suarez -- it's logical to think about where Lawlar fits. "Lawlar has a huge future," Hazen said. "Where he's going to play (in the majors), I don't know. I think the challenge with Jordan right now is he had spring training and then he had six weeks of nothing, outside of what he's had recently on his rehab (assignment)." The plan is to allow Lawlar to build up at-bats at the Triple-A level, where he had just 80 plate appearances last season. While he's doing that, the organization is likely to expose him to third base. Rotowire.com Today, 5:00 am

    • Homers off bench Wednesday
Robert hit a solo home run in his lone at-bat in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Robert was able to extend the contest with his game-tying blast in the ninth inning. The outfielder has four homers over eight games since he returned from a hip injury, but he's added just one other hit while posting a 3:13 BB:K in that span. He's up to six homers on the year with a .196/.250/.554 slash line through 60 plate appearances. Robert is still seeing steady rest given his lengthy injury history, though his power is a welcome addition to a fairly punchless lineup -- he already has the fourth most homers among White Sox batters this year.
