• Takes batting practice
Heyward (back) took batting practice on the field prior to Saturday's game against Atlanta, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Hewyard was cleared to begin baseball activities Friday, and Saturday marks the first time he has taken batting practice since landing on the injured list April 3. The veteran outfielder still doesn't have a clear return timeline, but he may move onto simulated games if his back is able to hold up after a few rounds of BP. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago

Advice: Suwinski stepped in to pinch-hit with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth. It just took one run to walk it off in the scoreless game. He delivered just that, knocking a single to left field to end the game. The 25-year-old outfielder is slashing .172/.259/.273 with two homers, 12 runs scored, and nine RBI across 112 plate appearances. Rotoworld 48 minutes ago

  • Resumes running
McCormick (hamstring) began running Saturday and could participate in batting practice within the next few days, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Manager Joe Espada said McCormick has been feeling better since tweaking his hamstring Tuesday, and the team hopes to send him on a minor-league rehab assignment "pretty soon." The 29-year-old outfielder will be eligible to return from the IL on Wednesday, though the Astros haven't indicated whether or not he'll be ready to go by then. Rotowire.com Today, 2:51 pm

  • Sits down against southpaw
Raley isn't in the Mariners' lineup Saturday against Houston.

Advice: Framber Valdez will toe the slab for the Astros on Saturday, meaning the lefty-hitting Raley will step out of the lineup. Sam Haggerty will enter as Seattle's left fielder and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 2:07 pm

  • Christopher Morel continues power surge vs. Brewers
Christopher Morel went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk on Saturday against the Brewers.

Advice: After drawing a walk in the first inning, Morel took Tobias Myers deep for a two-run homer in the third to extend the Cubs lead. Morel can certainly hit homers in bunches, as he’s now gone yard in three straight games and four of his last six. The 24-year-old third baseman is slashing .213/.292/.426 with seven homers, 20 runs scored, 20 RBI, and three steals across 137 plate appearances. Despite the low batting average, Morel has significantly cut down his strikeout rate so far this season, a good sign that we can see his numbers improve as we get into the summer. • Luis Rengifo sits due to illness on Saturday
Luis Rengifo was held out of the Angels’ starting lineup on Saturday due to illness.

Advice: The versatile 27-year-old has been under the weather for a couple of days, so skipper Ron Washington thought it was best to give him a night off. Brandon Drury returned to the Angels lineup to play second base on Saturday while Ehire Adrianza will cover third base and bat second for the Halos against Ben Lively and the Guardians. • Blake Perkins blasts two-run homer in loss
Blake Perkins went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk on Saturday against the Cubs.

Advice: The Cubs were held scoreless until the seventh inning. After Oliver Dunn plated a run with a triple, Perkins added two more with a blast to right center field off of Keegan Thompson. He later drew a walk in the ninth and scored on a single by William Contreras. The 27-year-old outfielder is hitting .267/.371/.444 with four homers, 18 runs scored, 13 RBI, and three steals across 105 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 2:00 pm
