• One more sim game before assignment
Kershaw will throw a three-inning simulated game next week then start a rehab assignment, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports Saturday.

Advice: Kershaw completed a two-inning sim game Friday -- his second simulated game of June -- and will throw another one next week before being sent off to a rehab assignment. The veteran lefty touched 90 mph Friday and is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a shoulder surgery in November. Still, Kershaw will likely require a handful of rehab starts before rejoining the big-league roster, making a July return feasible. Rotowire.com Today, 3:27 pm
  • Swipes fourth bag
Blackmon went 2-for-4 with a stolen base Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Blackmon has had a nice start to the Rockies' current road trip, going 3-for-7 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in two games. After attempting only one steal through May 12, he has three steals on four chances in his last 19 contests. Despite that surprising aggressiveness on the basepaths, Blackmon has disappointed with the bat, managing just a .127 ISO and .697 OPS in 209 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:15 pm
  • Pops homer, scores three times
Sheets went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, three runs scored and two walks in Friday's win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Sheets walked and scored in the fourth and eighth innings Friday, sandwiched around his solo shot in the sixth. He was recently stuck in a 33-game skid without a home run, but he's gone deep three times over his last 10 games. He bumped his season slash line up to .235/.341/.417 with 21 extra-base hits and 19 runs scored through 220 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:57 pm

  • Gavin Sheets homers, scores three runs in win
Gavin Sheets homered, walked twice and scored three runs Friday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Major league players had scored three runs in a game 159 times this season coming into the night, but this is the first time a White Sox player had done so. It’s also the first time Sheets has reached the mark in his 354 career games. It actually puts him at exactly 100 runs scored for his career. He’s been perfectly solid in hitting .235/.341/.417 for the White Sox. It’s just a mistake to ever ask him to play the outfield, something that will again become an issue once Eloy Jiménez gets healthy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:30 pm

  • Touches 90 mph in sim game
Kershaw (shoulder) hit 90 mph during a two-inning simulated game Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Friday's session was the second simulated game for Kershaw. The velocity he showed is a good sign that the veteran southpaw is progressing well in his recovery from his offseason shoulder surgery. Kershaw will throw another simulated game next week, though it's not yet certain when he will begin a minor-league rehab stint. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:20 pm
  • Clayton Kershaw touches 90 mph in sim game
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) threw a two-inning simulated game on Friday for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Advice: Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Kershaw touched 90 mph on the radar gun during the throwing session. The Dodgers have yet to schedule Kershaw’s first rehab start, but it might not be far off. First, he’ll throw another sim game next week. The 36-year-old southpaw is coming back from surgery last November to repair his shoulder capsule and ligaments. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:29 pm
  • Getting breather versus LHP
Carpenter isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: The left-handed bat of Carpenter will be forced out of the lineup Friday as southpaw Austin Gomber prepares to toe the slab for Colorado. Jose Fermin will instead serve as St. Louis' designated hitter while batting seventh. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:09 pm

  • Snags save Thursday
Kinley allowed a hit and struck out one batter in one-third of an inning to earn the save in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Jalen Beeks entered the game in the eighth inning and got five outs, but Kinley was the one to get the last out for the save. This was Kinley's fourth scoreless outing in his last eight -- he's given up too many runs to be reliable on a regular basis, though he hasn't taken a blown save yet in 2024. The right-hander is at three saves and four holds with an 8.03 ERA, 1.82 WHIP and 27:14 K:BB over 24.2 innings. Rotowire.com Thursday, 8:16 pm
  • Kinley records third save Thursday
Tyler Kinley picked up the save against the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: The save was Kinley’s third of the season. This was a brutal beat for Jalen Beeks managers. Beeks blew the save Wednesday night, but was able to get through the eighth inning and record the first two outs of the ninth inning before Kinley came in and got the save. The Rockies closer situation isn’t for the weak-hearted with Beeks, Kinley and Justin Lawrence all in the mix. Rotoworld Thursday, 8:00 pm
