    • Collects three hits Wednesday
Betts went 3-for-5 with two RBI against the Diamondbacks in Wednesday's 8-0 victory.

Advice: Betts hasn't homered over his past 17 games, but he continues to be productive, collecting seven multi-hit efforts over that stretch while slashing .406/.481/.536. The move to shortstop this season hasn't impacted the All-Star's offensive production, as Betts is leading MLB in hits (49) and OBP (.481) while tying for first in runs (29) and walks (26). Betts' 1.104 OPS also leads all major-leaguers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:33 am

    • On track for season debut Friday
Grissom (hamstring/illness) is feeling much better and will travel with the Red Sox to Minnesota for their weekend series against the Twins, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Grissom has had his season debut delayed after he came down with an illness earlier this week. However, it sounds like he's feeling back or close to 100 percent and is in line to make his Red Sox and season debut Friday. Grissom -- who was acquired from Atlanta over the offseason in the Chris Sale trade -- is set to take over as Boston's primary second baseman. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:23 am

    • Aiming to be available Friday
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that he's hopeful that Grissom (hamstring/illness) will be ready to return from the 10-day injured list for Friday's game in Minnesota, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Grissom had been slated for his season and Red Sox debut Tuesday after overcoming a hamstring injury, but he's been delayed due to an illness. Once activated, Grissom is likely to serve as the Red Sox's everyday second baseman. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:32 pm

    • Vaughn Grissom set to join Red Sox on Friday
Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters on Wednesday that Vaughn Grissom is expected to be activated from the injured list on Friday.

Advice: The 23-year-old infielder should make his highly-anticipated Red Sox’ debut on Friday evening against the Twins in Minnesota. Grissom has played in nine games during his minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester, hitting .333/.444/.400 with two RBI, two stolen bases and a 9/5 K/BB ratio over 36 plate appearances. • Goes deep Tuesday
Smith went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and scored twice during Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Smith's second-inning single and sixth-inning solo shot give the 26-year-old infielder his third multi-hit game in his last five contests. He is 7-for-14 two homers, three RBI and three runs scored during that stretch and now boats an impressive .917 OPS on the season while filling in as Josh Jung's (wrist) replacement. • Josh Smith homers as Rangers down Nationals
Josh Smith went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored in Tuesday’s win over the Nationals.

Advice: Smith hit his second homer of the season, a solo blast, off of Jordan Weems in the bottom up the sixth to give the Rangers a 3-1 lead. It was the second of two hits for Smith on the night, as the young third baseman has filled in admirably for Josh Jung and is now slashing .317/.417/.500 through the first month of the season. With Jung out for at least 4-6 more weeks, Smith should continue to have some low-end fantasy upside batting in a Rangers offense that ranked 14th in runs scored heading into the day. • Vaughn Grissom not returning Tuesday due to illness
Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) will not be activated from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday due to illness.

Advice: Grissom was slated to make his Red Sox debut during Tuesday’s series opener against the Giants, but apparently is feeling under the weather. He should be ready to return at some point later this week. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:25 pm

    • Dealing with illness
Grissom (hamstring/illness) won't be activated from the injured list Tuesday, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Grissom was expected to make his MLB debut Tuesday after battling a right hamstring injury throughout the early portion of the season. However, it's an illness keeping him from being activated from the 10-day IL, meaning that the second baseman should be considered essentially day-to-day moving forward. • Belts homer in win
De La Cruz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Monday in a 5-2 victory against the Padres.

Advice: De La Cruz set the Reds on a positive path with his massive 443-foot solo shot to center field in the first inning. The long ball snapped a four game-stretch during which the dynamic young shortstop didn't knock any extra-base hits and went just 1-for-13 at the plate, though he did maintain valuable production with three thefts during that span. De La Cruz has been one of baseball's most impressive performers early in the campaign, slashing .280/.390/.590 with eight home runs, 19 RBI, 26 runs and a league-leading 18 stolen bases through 118 plate appearances.
