Erick Fedde pitches well in loss to Tigers Friday
Erick Fedde pitched well in a losing effort against the Tigers on Friday night, allowing just two runs on five hits over seven strong innings of work.
Advice: The right-hander punched out three batters on the evening while issuing only one base on balls. All of the damage done against him came on one mighty swing of the bat by Carson Kelly on a 2-1 sweeper in the second inning. He settled in beautifully after that and retired the final 14 batters that he faced in the contest, but the White Sox were unable to provide the requisite support. Fedde got 12 whiffs on 92 pitches on the night — six on his sinker — while registering a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll carry a 5-2 record, 3.05 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and an 86/24 K/BB ratio (94 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s showdown against the Dodgers.
