• Patrick Bailey (concussion) to return on Saturday
Patrick Bailey (concussion) is expected to be activated from the injured list on Saturday.

Advice: The 24-year-old backstop caught a bullpen session for Blake Snell on Friday without any issues, which was the final hurdle to clear before returning. Expect Jakson Reetz to be optioned back to Triple-A Sacramento to clear a spot on the active roster. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago

  • Jason Heyward (back) nearing rehab assignment
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Friday that Jason Heyward (back) will begin a rehab assignment at some point next week.

Advice: The 34-year-old outfielder has been sidelined since the beginning of April due to stiffness in his back. He has been making progress in recent weeks though and is on track to return to the Dodgers’ lineup before the end of May barring any setbacks. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

  • Lung Hoo Lee (foot) remains out of Giants’ lineup
Jung Hoo Lee (foot) remains out of the Giants’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Reds.

Advice: Lee also sat out Thursday’s game due to a sore foot. Giants’ skipper Bob Melvin said Friday that Lee may need an additional day off on Saturday, but that he should be able to return after that and won’t require a trip to the injured list. Let’s hope that’s the case and it doesn’t turn into an Jorge Soler (shoulder) situation. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Day off Friday
Renfroe isn't in the Royals' lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Advice: Renfroe will get a chance to regroup Friday after going 0-for-10 across his last three games. Dairon Blanco will cover right field instead and bat eighth. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago
  • Optioned to Triple-A
Lynch was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Friday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Lynch will return to Omaha after tossing five scoreless innings in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Rangers and two perfect innings in Thursday's 10-4 win against the Angels. With Alec Marsh (elbow) being activated Friday, Lynch was the odd man out in Kansas City and he'll now have to wait for his next chance to join the major-league roster. The left-hander has struggled to a 5.86 ERA over 27.2 innings in six starts at Triple-A this season and he'll look to find a groove ahead of his next call up down the road. • Clears IL
The Royals reinstated Marsh (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Advice: Marsh made his lone rehab start with Triple-A Omaha on May 5, striking out six and giving up one hit and one walk over four shutout innings while throwing 53 pitches. To make room for Marsh, the Royals optioned southpaw Daniel Lynch to Triple-A Omaha. Marsh will take the mound and start in Friday's series opener against the Angels. Rotowire.com 44 minutes ago

  • Jordan Beck not in Rockies’ lineup on Friday night
Jordan Beck is not in the Rockies’ starting lineup for Friday’s matchup against the Rangers.

Advice: It’s the first time that the 23-year-old outfielder has received a day off since his promotion from Triple-A. It’s been a rough go at the plate for him so far, hitting just .156/.156/.188 with one run scored, zero RBI and a 14/0 K/BB ratio. If things don’t improve soon, he’s likely ticketed for a return to Triple-A. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

  • Paul Goldschmidt returns to Cardinals’ lineup
Paul Goldschmidt returned to the Cardinals starting lineup for Friday night’s ballgame against the Brewers.

Advice: The Cardinals had the struggling 36-year-old slugger take the previous two games off to work on reconstructing his swing. That makes sense, as he’s slashing a putrid .195/.287/.263 with just two homers, 11 RBI, one swipe and a 47/16 K/BB ratio over 152 plate appearances to start the season. There’s nowhere to go but up, so fantasy managers will just have to hope that whatever changes he made make a difference. He’ll bat third against rookie left-hander Robert Gasser on Friday evening in Milwaukee. Rotoworld Today, 3:57 pm
  • Masataka Yoshida (thumb) will not need surgery
Red Sox’ manager Alex Cora announced Friday that Masataka Yoshida will not require surgery on his injured left thumb.

Advice: He’s still going to be shut down for a couple of weeks before he starts swinging a bat again, but overall this is encouraging news for the Red Sox and for fantasy managers. Yoshida has been shelved since the beginning of May. He has hit .275/.348/.388 with a pair of homers, 11 RBI and an 11/6 K/BB ratio over 89 plate appearances in 24 games on the season.
