    • Serves up homer
Bednar allowed one earned run on one hit while striking out one Friday against the Rockies.

Advice: Bednar was called upon to preserve a 5-1 lead in the ninth inning. He retired the first two batters he faced without issue but then served up a solo home run to Charlie Blackmon. Bednar has now given up a home run in consecutive appearances, though the Pirates still won on both occasions. Rotowire.com Today, 7:09 am
    • Alexis Díaz allows four to reach in earning save
Alexis Díaz recorded his 15th save despite allowing two runs — one earned — in the ninth Friday versus the Brewers.

Advice: Díaz survived yet again after allowing three hits and walking a batter in a sloppy ninth inning. He’ll probably be available Saturday, but if not, the save chance could go to Lucas Sims or Fernando Cruz. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:24 pm
    • Escapes with save
Diaz allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk Friday while earning a save over Milwaukee.

Advice: Diaz was tasked with protecting a 6-3 lead in the ninth inning and ran into some trouble. He walked in a run after an error loaded the bases and allowed what would've been the game-tying hit if not for Will Benson throwing out Jake Bauers at home. Diaz has converted eight straight saves and 15 of his 17 chances this season. Despite his relative success in those situations, his ERA is up to 5.47 with a lackluster 27:19 K:BB through 26.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:14 pm
    • Stress reaction in neck
Brown has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his neck, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Brown was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier this week with what was referred to as a neck strain at the time. With this more serious diagnosis, he is likely to be sidelined longer than the minimum 15 days, although a clearer timeline isn't yet available. Jordan Wicks has re-entered the Cubs' rotation in Brown's place. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:37 am

    • Earns ninth save
Fairbanks earned a save against the Cubs on Thursday, allowing one walk in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Entering with a 3-2 lead in the ninth inning, Fairbanks walked Michael Busch with one out but induced a game-ending double play to secure the save. Since returning from an arm injury in mid-May, Fairbanks is 6-for-6 in save chances and has not allowed an earned run in 14 innings of work. On the season, he is 9-for-10 in save opportunities with a 3.00 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 23:11 K:BB in 21 innings. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:56 pm
    • Fairbanks picks up save against Cubs Thursday
Pete Fairbanks tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: The save was Fairbanks’ ninth of the season. He walked Michael Busch with one out before getting Nico Hoerner to ground into a double play to end the game. Fairbanks has now converted on six consecutive save opportunities. The last time he blew a save chance was April 17th. His ERA is now 3.00 on the season. Fairbanks already has four saves in June. • Alec Marsh takes no-no into seventh versus Yankees
Alec Marsh allowed only a single over seven scoreless innings Thursday against the Yankees.

Advice: Marsh, who came into the day having given up 14 earned runs in his previous three starts, took a no-hitter into the seventh before giving up a single to Juan Soto. He ended up with seven strikeouts and two walks. Alas, he didn’t factor into the decision after John Schreiber blew a two-run lead in the eighth. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:27 pm

    • Flirts with no-hitter vs. Yankees
Marsh came away with a no-decision in Thursday's 4-3 win versus the Yankees. He threw seven shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out seven.

Advice: Marsh took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before giving up a leadoff single to Juan Soto. Despite the bullpen failing to hold the lead, it was still the longest no-hit bid by a Royals pitcher this season. The 26-year-old righty dazzled his first two trips through the Yankees' potent lineup, and four of the seven strikeouts he recorded were against Soto and Aaron Judge. Marsh has been a solid rotation piece for the Royals this year with a 3.63 ERA through 12 outings, and he currently lines up to make his next start in Oakland next week. • Earns 14th save
Diaz earned a save against Cleveland on Wednesday, retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.

Advice: Entering with a 4-2 lead in the ninth inning, Diaz needed just 13 pitches to retire the Guardians in order. Since May 21, Diaz is 7-for-7 in save chances with only two runs allowed over 10 appearances. On the season, Diaz is 14-for-16 in save chances with a 5.33 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 27:18 K:BB in 25.1 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:06 pm
