    • Gets walked off
Rodriguez (1-1) allowed two runs on two hits and struck out one in one-third of an inning, taking the loss Monday versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Rodriguez served up a walk-off two-run blast to Pavin Smith in the ninth inning. After looking steady in the second half of May, Rodriguez has faltered by allowing four runs over his last 2.1 innings across three appearances. He's at a 3.57 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB over 17.2 innings while seeing most of his work in low-leverage spots, Monday's outing being a rare exception. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:47 pm
    • Swipes bag Monday
Herrera went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Astros.

Advice: Herrera's two steals this year have come over his last eight games. The catcher has gone 8-for-31 (.258) in that span, but he has just two extra-base hits, one RBI and one run scored. For the season, he's batting .269 with a .691 OPS, three home runs, three doubles, 16 RBI and 15 runs scored over 150 plate appearances. While there hasn't been a lot of power in his bat, Herrera has hit well enough to maintain the starting job over Pedro Pages while Willson Contreras (forearm) remains out. • Homers in back-to-back games
Burleson went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Astros.

Advice: This was Burleson's second straight game with a homer after he went 12 contests without one. The 25-year-old is up to seven homers through 51 contests in 2024, one long ball shy of matching his total from 107 games last year. He's added a reliable .271/.299/.429 slash line with 21 RBI, 16 runs scored and two stolen bases over 177 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:41 pm

    • Takes first loss
Romero (2-1) allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits and struck out two over one inning, taking the loss and a blown save versus the Astros on Monday.

Advice: Romero allowed just two runs over 13 innings in May, but he won't fare as well in June after this brutal outing. He was responsible for an Alex Bregman solo shot and a two-run home run by Yainer Diaz as part of the Astros' comeback. Even with the poor appearance, Romero has a 2.10 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 30:4 K:BB with 18 holds and two blown saves through 30 innings. The southpaw is unlikely to be removed from a setup role after just one bad outing, so he should still be a steady source of holds and solid strikeout numbers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:38 pm
    • Notches first win
Megill (1-2) picked up the win Monday against Washington, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks. He struck out four in five innings of work.

Advice: Megill made his third start since returning from a shoulder injury on May 20, notching his first win. The right-hander gave up his first home run of the season, a two-run shot by Joey Gallo in the fourth inning. Despite earning the win, the 28-year-old yielded four earned runs and recorded just four strikeouts, both season-worsts. Megill has now compiled a 3.00 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP and a 24:9 K:BB across 21 innings. He will look to improve in his next start, tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday versus Miami. • Pavin Smith hits walkoff homer for D-backs
Pinch-hitter Pavin Smith hit a two-run homer off Randy Rodriguez in the bottom of the ninth to give the Diamondbacks a 4-2 win over the Giants on Monday.

Advice: Smith’s 424-foot shot to center would have been a double had it turned a few inches to the left, but that still would have been enough to win the game. It was Smith’s second homer in 50 plate appearances this season and 30th in 1,144 trips to the plate since he debuted in 2020. He’s probably in line for a demotion to Triple-A once Alek Thomas comes off the IL, but the Diamondbacks were certainly happy to have him around tonight. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:49 pm

    • Ryne Nelson works into eighth versus Giants
Ryne Nelson threw 7 2/3 innings and held the Giants to two runs in a no-decision Monday.

Advice: The Diamondbacks didn’t win this one until the bottom of the ninth, so Ryan Thompson was credited with the victory. Nelson’s fine outing came with just one strikeout. He allowed 11 hard-hit balls, including seven pummeled at least 103 mph, but he came away giving up just six hits in lowering his ERA to 5.44. He’ll face the Padres next. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:49 pm
    • Spencer Howard solid for 4 2/3 innings in relief
After coming in to start the second inning, Spencer Howard yielded two runs in 4 2/3 innings Monday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Erik Miller opened for the Giants and worked a scoreless first. Howard has been pretty sharp in his two appearances for the Giants, allowing two runs and posting a 7/0 K/BB in 8 2/3 innings. He should hang around and either start or again work as a bulk guy this weekend versus the Rangers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:49 pm
    • Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hits 100th career homer in win
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit his 100th career homer Monday against the Giants.

Advice: Gurriel entered June in the midst of a six-week slump, but he’s now homered in back-to-back games to start the month. He’s certainly worth trying in leagues in which he was dropped. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:49 pm
