Advice: Munoz continued what is turning into his best stretch of pitching this season, locating eight of his 11 pitches for strikes on his way to his ninth scoreless effort in the last 10 appearances, including his fifth straight. Blue Jays manager John Schneider said after Sunday's 11-8 loss to the Nationals that Manoah will remain in the rotation for at least one more turn, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Advice: After Manoah struck out 12 over six innings of one-run ball in the fifth start of his minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo, the Blue Jays determined he was ready to return from a season-opening stint on the 15-day injured list due to shoulder inflammation. While taking the hill Sunday for the Blue Jays for the first time since Aug. 10, 2023, Manoah unfortunately reverted to the poor form that he displayed throughout last season, as he was tagged for seven runs (six earned) on six hits and four walks while striking out six over four innings. Though Manoah remained plagued by spotty control (52 strikes on 92 pitches) and command, Schneider stressed that the right-hander's standing in the rotation wouldn't be determined by just one start. Manoah thus looks on track to get at least another opportunity to redeem himself, though it's not immediately clear when his next start will come. Manoah tentatively lines up for a home start next Sunday against the Twins, but the Blue Jays have off days Monday and Thursday and could get by with a four-man rotation until at least May 14 in Baltimore if they so choose. Melendez went 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Rangers.

Advice: This was Melendez's first multi-hit effort since April 19 -- he went 2-for-36 over the previous 12 contests. The 25-year-old started the year hot, batting .325 over his first 12 games, but he's since returned to his career norms. He's slashing a poor .186/.252/.363 with four home runs, two steals, 12 RBI, nine runs scored and six doubles over 111 plate appearances. Despite the poor batting, Melendez is still seeing a majority of the playing time in left field, keeping Nelson Velazquez at designated hitter and Dairon Blanco on the bench. Brown didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Seattle, allowing two runs on five hits with four walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Despite tying his season high in walks, Brown allowed only a pair of runners to score and held the Mariners to just one extra-base hit. Brown has lasted less than five innings in five of his seven starts this season and owns an ugly 8.89 ERA through 27.1 innings. With Cristian Javier (neck) set to return in the next week or so, Brown's time in the rotation could be coming to a close. However, Houston could drop rookie Spencer Arrighetti instead.
