• Expects to avoid injured list
Kepler said after being removed from Thursday's game against the Rays because of neck spasms that he expects to avoid the injured list, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.

Advice: Kepler revealed that he actually felt his neck spasming in the on-deck circle before his first plate appearance and made a decision not to swing the bat, which is why he attempted to bunt twice. He was pulled from the game following a headfirst slide into first base while trying to beat out a bunt. While it's unclear whether Kepler will be ready to play Friday in Oakland, he can be considered day-to-day. Rotowire.com Today, 9:10 am

  • Returns from injured list
The Royals reinstated Renfroe (toe) from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Advice: The 32-year-old resumed taking swings over the weekend and is back on the active roster after spending the 10-day minimum on the shelf with a bruised toe. Renfroe had a hot start to June prior to the injury as he went 7-for-18 with two doubles, two homers and six RBI in six games. Rotowire.com Today, 8:47 am
  • Sitting again versus lefty
McNeil is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: McNeil has now been out of the lineup for two straight games and seven times over the last eight occasions that the Mets have faced a left-hander, as he's pretty clearly now in a platoon at second base with Jose Iglesias. Iglesias and his teammates will try to solve southpaw Shota Imanaga on Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 8:17 am

  • Planning to play next season
McCutchen indicated earlier this week that he plans to continue his playing career after this season, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: "In my mind, this isn't my last year," McCutchen said. McCutchen will turn 38 in October and is basically a full-time designated hitter at this point. He's been productive this season, however, particularly since being moved into the Pirates' leadoff spot, where he's slashed .273/.359/.459 with nine homers in 195 plate appearances. Mackey writes that he was told by owner Bob Nutting last season that McCutchen "will remain a Pirate for as long as he wants," so it would seem the team would be amendable to a new deal after this season. • Drives in two in win
Grichuk went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Grichuk lined a two-out double that plated Arizona's eventual winning run as part of a three-run fourth inning. He's been productive in a part-time role, mainly starting against left-handers, and is slashing .304/.360/.464 through 46 games. His .824 OPS is a career high. Rotowire.com Today, 5:53 am

  • Three hits, three RBI in win
Donovan went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI in Thursday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Donovan continued to rake Thursday, posting his fourth three-hit game of the campaign and his third multi-hit performance in his last four contests. The outfielder's two-run blast in the first inning gave the Cardinals an early 3-0 lead, while his two-out, RBI single in the fifth added what would prove to be a pivotal insurance run. Donovan is up to seven long balls on the season, with three coming this month and two coming over his last three games. He's batting .299 in June with 11 RBI and seven runs scored. • Drives in four
O'Hearn went 2-for-5 with a walk and four RBI in Thursday's 17-5 win over the Yankees.

Advice: O'Hearn logged his third multi-hit effort in his last four contests. The lefty slugger is batting .358 (19-for-53) with 12 RBI over 16 games in June. He's up to a .289/.347/.477 slash line with nine home runs, 30 RBI, 26 runs scored, two stolen bases and eight doubles over 59 games. O'Hearn will continue to play in a strong-side platoon role with few opportunities to step into the lineup versus southpaws. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:26 pm

  • Brendan Donovan leads Cardinals to win over Giants
Brendan Donovan went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBI on Thursday, powering the Cardinals to a 6-5 victory over the Giants at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

Advice: Donovan served as the Cardinals’ primary offensive catalyst in this one as the Alabama native took Giants starter Keaton Winn deep in the opening frame for his seventh big fly of the season. He also plated a key insurance run with a fifth-inning RBI single against Giants lefty reliever Taylor Rogers. The three-hit effort raises his batting average to a solid .258 mark to go along with 33 runs scored, seven homers, 36 RBI and one steal over 69 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:08 pm

  • Jordan Walker slugs another homer at Triple-A
Jordan Walker went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer on Thursday for Triple-A Memphis.

Advice: The encouraging development here for fantasy managers is that Walker is finally starting to hit for some over-the-fence pop. The 22-year-old former top prospect has gone deep three times since June 1. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:52 pm
