    Advice: Suarez went a week without an appearance, so he was fresh Wednesday. He needed just 14 pitches (10 strikes) to get the last four outs of this victory, which resulted in his 21st save in 22 chances this year.     Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and two runs scored against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

    Advice: Gurriel Jr. put the Diamondbacks on the board with a sacrifice fly in the first inning to bring home the first run. He later slugged a two-run homer in the sixth to extend the lead.     Craig Kimbrel struck out two batters in a scoreless inning to earn the save against the Mariners on Wednesday.

    Advice: Kimbrel was summoned to close out the game with a three-run lead in the ninth. He made quick work of the Mariners, striking out two batters in a perfect inning on 18 pitches.     Robert Suarez shut the Rangers down with two strikeouts across 1 1/3 innings to earn the save on Wednesday.

    Advice: Suarez’s magnificent season continued in this one as he eviscerated the Rangers with his blazing fastball and changeup. This was by far the most he’s used his changeup in a single outing at 43% and it seemed to surprise the Rangers.     Jared Jones was removed from Wednesday’s start against the Cardinals after five innings due to a right lat strain.

    Advice: The assumption when Jones was pulled after just 78 pitches was that it was simply another way for the Pirates to manage the 22-year-old hurler’s workload, but it sounds like there was an injury issue at play as well. Jones told reporters after the game that he wasn’t too concerned about it, but the Pirates aren’t going to take any unnecessary risks with him.   • Erick Fedde completes six in win over Guardians
    Erick Fedde struck out three and allowed one run over six innings on Wednesday in a win over the Guardians.

    Advice: Fedde wasn’t overpowering in this one, but he got plenty of run support from Chicago’s lineup and managed to limit Cleveland’s offense to just three hits and a trio of walks over six frames. A third-inning sacrifice fly from David Fry, on the heels of a leadoff double by Guardians rookie Daniel Schneemann, represented the lone tally against him in this one. The 31-year-old journeyman righty has settled in as a solid back-end rotation stabilizer for fantasy managers in his White Sox debut. He’ll carry a strong 3.13 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 94/28 K/BB ratio across 106 1/3 innings (18 starts) into a home outing against the Twins on Tuesday to close out the first half.
