• Throws across infield practice
Gelof (oblique) threw across the infield before Friday's game against the Marlins, the Associated Press reports.

Advice: Gelof was cleared for baseball activities Wednesday, when he began fielding grounders and playing catch. His ability to do some more aggressive throwing Friday is certainly another encouraging benchmark, although it remains unclear when he'll be ready to pick up a bat again. • Begins baseball activities
Gelof (oblique) fielded grounders and played catch Wednesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Gelof was shut down for about a week after landing on the 10-day injured list last Thursday with a strained left oblique, but he's now been cleared to begin baseball activities. Hitting will be the biggest hurdle for him to clear, and it's uncertain when he might be ready to swing a bat. Gelof is eligible to return from the IL on May 15, but it's too soon to know whether he might be back by that date. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:02 pm

  • Plates three during win
Turang went 2-for-3 with three RBI, a run scored, a walk and stole a base during Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Rays.

Advice: Turang's RBI single in the second inning drove in Jackson Chourio to give Milwaukee a 2-0 lead, and his seventh-inning double scored another two runs, pushing the score to 8-2. The 24-year-old second baseman continues to look like a reformed hitter, batting .312 through 93 at-bats this season -- a drastic improvement from his .218 average last year -- and his 14 stolen bases rank second in the majors. • Turang drives in three as Brewers down Rays
Brice Turang went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI, and a run scored in Tuesday’s win over the Rays.

Advice: Turang singled in the second inning to bring home Jackson Chourio, giving the Brewers an early 2-0 lead, but that was just the start of a strong night for the young second baseman. Turang would later double in the seventh inning, driving in two more runs to put the Brewers up 8-2. Turang has upped his RBI total to 12 on the season and his hitting a solid .312 through the first month of the season.

  • Shut down from activity
Gelof (oblique) is currently shut down from baseball activity, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Gelof was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a strained left oblique, but he appears to be on track to miss more than the minimum amount of days. The 24-year-old will likely need to ramp his activity over a series of days before he could ultimately be activated. In the meantime, Max Schuemann will likely continue to handle the lion's share of work at second base with Oakland in Gelof's absence. Rotowire.com Monday, 4:41 pm

  • Gelof (oblique) shut down from baseball activities
Zack Gelof (oblique) has been shut down from baseball activities.

Advice: That’s not good. Gelof was placed on the injured list with a left oblique strain Thursday, and it sounds like the 24-year-old won’t be ready to roll when he’s eligible to be activated in the early portion of May. Fantasy managers who are counting on Gelof should probably look elsewhere for a short-term — and potentially longer — replacement. Rotoworld Monday, 4:25 pm

  • Out of Sunday's lineup
Caballero is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Caballero will head to the bench Sunday after he posted a .217/.250/.370 slash line and 26.5 percent strikeout rate while starting the previous 12 games. Amed Rosario will shift to shortstop and bat third. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:39 am

  • Resting against lefty
Turang isn't in the Brewers' lineup Saturday against the Yankees.

Advice: Turang will sit down to begin the game as left-hander Carlos Rodon prepares to start on the mound for New York. Joey Ortiz will slide over to second base as a result, allowing Owen Miller to pick up a start at the hot corner and bat seventh. Rotowire.com Saturday, 2:25 pm

  • Brice Turang steals 13th base in win over Yankees
Brice Turang went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in a win over the Yankees on Friday in 10 innings.

Advice: That steal is already the 13th of the season for Turang. The speedy infielder also singled twice to improve his average to .329 on the season with an .855 OPS to go along with it. This is obviously not sustainable, but it’s worth noting that Turang is a former first-round pick that was considered a top prospect not that long ago. Rotoworld Friday, 8:29 pm
