    Holmes earned the save Wednesday, allowing one hit with three strikeouts over 1.2 scoreless innings against Baltimore.

    Advice: Holmes capped off an excellent game by the Yankees pitching staff, as they yielded three hits and no runs as a whole. Individually, Holmes logged three strikeouts for the first time all year and his 1.2 innings of work marked his longest outing of the campaign.   • Clay Holmes locks down five-out save against O’s
    Clay Holmes slammed the door on the Orioles on Wednesday night, getting the final five outs to preserve a two-run advantage.

    Advice: Holmes was called upon with two men on and one out in the eighth inning, and he quelled that threat by striking out Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman in succession to end the inning. He returned for the ninth where he allowed a leadoff single to Ryan O’Hearn and nothing more. The 31-year-old right-hander has been unbelievable so far this season, hurling 15 innings of scoreless baseball with a 16/1 K/BB ratio while converting 10 of his first 11 save chances. Studly.   • Grabs first win
    Scott (1-4) earned the win Tuesday over Colorado, allowing an unearned run on a hit and a walk in one inning. He struck out two.

    Advice: Scott allowed the free runner to score in the top of the 10th inning on a two-out Ryan McMahon double before ultimately striking out Hunter Goodman to end the frame. The Marlins would then score twice in the bottom half, completing the comeback victory and giving Scott his first win this year. The left-hander hasn't allowed an earned run in his last six appearances -- he's 4-for-5 in save chances this year with a 2.84 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 12:13 K:BB across 12.2 innings.   • Converts 10th save
    Suarez pitched a perfect ninth inning to lock down his 10th save of the year in a 6-4 win over the Reds on Tuesday. He struck out one.

    Advice: Suarez continues to let Padres fans live in peace about letting Josh Hader walk this past offseason. He's now a perfect 10-for-10 in save opportunities and is tied with Ryan Helsley atop the league. Suarez now owns an 0.71 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB in 12.2 innings.   • Robert Suarez gets 10th save in 10 chances
    Robert Suarez earned his 10th save with a perfect ninth against the Reds on Tuesday.

    Advice: The Padres haven’t missed Josh Hader thus far, though it would have been nice if they had redistributed Hader’s money to the offense. Suarez is 10-for-10 saving games with a 0.71 ERA in 12 2/3 innings. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:05 pm
     
  • Tanner Scott picks up extra-innings win
    Tanner Scott allowed one run (no earned) on one hit and one walk in one inning while getting the win in a 7-6 extra-innings win over the Rockies on Tuesday.

    Advice: Scott got two quick outs in the top of the 10th innings but then allowed a double to Ryan McMahon which scored the ghost runner. He then issued an intentional walk before getting another strikeout to end the inning. He would pick up with win when the Marlins scored twice in the bottom of the inning. It’s never easy with Scott but at least the walk tonight was intentional. The Marlins are clearly planning to keep him as their closer, so he deserves to be on your fantasy roster, even if you want to bench him to see if he can work his command issues out.   • Gets back on track
    Crochet didn't factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk across five innings against the Twins. He struck out seven.

    Advice: After surrendering five or more runs in three straight starts, Crochet snapped out of the funk and only allowed the Twins to score on a two-run homer by Carlos Santana in the second frame. Crochet also had strong command, walking just one batter after yielding seven walks and two hit-by-pitches in his last three outings. Although Crochet has been inconsistent to kick off 2024, his strikeout stuff has been elite, boasting the second most K's in baseball. He's lined up for a Saturday start against the Cardinals.   • Garrett Crochet bounces back Monday vs. Twins
    Garrett Crochet struck out seven and allowed two runs over five innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Twins.

    Advice: Crochet gave up just two hits and only handed out one free pass as a second-inning homer by veteran Carlos Santana accounted for all of the damage against him. He generated 13 swinging strikes and finished with a solid 34 percent CSW. It was a much-needed bounce-back outing for the 24-year-old southpaw after allowing at least five earned runs in three consecutive starts since April 13. He’ll bring a bloated 5.97 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 47/9 K/BB ratio across 34 2/3 innings (seven starts) into a road matchup on Sunday against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The underlying metrics suggest that he’s pitched better than his surface stats, which means fantasy managers should continue keeping him rostered outside of extremely shallow mixed leagues.   • Picks up sixth save
    Diaz pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Rangers to record his sixth save of the season.

    Advice: It didn't look like the closer's services would be necessary when the Reds took an 8-0 lead into the ninth inning, but Brent Suter served up back-to-back homers to Davis Wendzel and Corey Seager, and Diaz had to enter the game with one out and the tying run on deck. He was up to the task, needing seven pitches (five strikes) to get the final two outs. While his velocity remains down -- his fastball topped out at 94.0 mph Saturday -- Diaz is still getting results, converting six of seven save chances this season with a 3.27 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB through 11 innings.
