Swing test pushed backJung (wrist) will have his swing test pushed back to Saturday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Advice: Jung was slated to swing a bat Friday, but he'll have that evaluation pushed back a day. He has been on the injured list since April 2 with a fractured right wrist, and his rehab program with Triple-A Round Rock was shut down due to tendon inflammation. Jung could be activated off the injured list soon if his swing test Saturday goes well, though he'll likely be eased back into the action with planned off days if he does return. Rotowire.com -
Will swing bat FridayJung (wrist) will attempt to swing a bat Friday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Advice: Jung's return has been delayed due to inflammation in his surgically repaired right wrist, but he's ready to test things out swinging a bat after resting for a week and receiving a cortisone shot. The third baseman could be activated soon if things go well in the cage Friday, but when Jung does return he might be eased back into action by playing every other day or receiving one off day per series, according to Grant. Advice: With the Cardinals facing a lefty, Gorman will head to the bench and the team will turn to Jose Fermin at second base. Gorman has been a good source of power this season with 16 home runs, but he’s also hitting .191 on the season with a 36 percent strikeout rate and has been worse in June with a .148 average and 38 percent strikeout rate in 24 games. However, he also has four steals in June, which has saved his fantasy value a bit, but he’s hard to roster in batting average leagues if you have ample power because of the drain he puts on your team with his average. Advice: Jung was examined Tuesday in Phoenix by the doctor who performed his right wrist surgery back in early April. While the third baseman has had his activation from the 60-day injured list pushed back a bit due to inflammation in the wrist, he's been told that his wrist is sound structurally. Jung's return has effectively been ruled out through the weekend, but it's possible he'll rejoin the Texas lineup shortly after that. Advice: Machado has gone 14-for-38 (.368) over his last 10 contests, adding two homers and eight RBI in that span. Managing inflammationRangers GM Chris Young said Tuesday that Jung (wrist) is dealing with tendon inflammation and classified a potential return on the current road trip, which runs through Sunday in Baltimore, as "ambitious," Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning Newsreports.
Advice: The 26-year-old was shut down for the weekend after experiencing residual soreness in his surgically repaired right wrist, and he returned to Texas to be evaluated further Tuesday.
