      McLain (shoulder) is about a week away from a follow-up appointment that will give the Reds a better idea on his return timetable, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

      Advice: If all goes well with his exam, McLain could start working out at the Reds' spring training facility in Arizona. He doesn't have an official return date yet.       Volpe went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional run scored, a stolen base and two walks in Sunday's 15-5 rout over Milwaukee.

      Advice: After a scorching start to the season, Volpe had fallen back a bit in the second half of April, as he came into Sunday batting .157 with no homers and a 30.9 percent strikeout rate over 12 games since April 15. He turned things around -- at least temporarily -- by reaching four times against Milwaukee on Sunday, with his fifth-inning three-run homer opening the floodgates for a Yankees offensive outburst late in the contest. Despite his recent slump, Volpe still has strong overall numbers on the campaign -- he's slashing .282/.368/.418 with three home runs, 13 RBI, 20 runs and seven stolen bases through 126 plate appearances.       Anthony Volpe went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and two walks Sunday against the Brewers.

      Advice: A much-improved game for Volpe, who came into the day 7-for-47 with no homers and a 16/1 K/BB ratio in his previous 11 games. The Yankees haven’t wavered on using him as a leadoff man, even though he’s mostly struggled since moving up two weeks into the season.       Trea Turner went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in a victory Saturday over the Padres.

      Advice: Turner scored on a pair of hits from Alec Bohm, the first being a two-run homer in the first and the next being an RBI single in the fifth.       Advice: Turner hit the ball well on Thursday, with five batted balls that were at least 96.7 mph. It continues a strong start to the season for the shortstop, who’s slashing .336/.388/.477 on the year with two home runs and six steals.
