      Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports the Rays will wait until Friday before making a decision whether Josh Lowe (side) will require a trip to the injured list.

      Advice: Topkin added that an injured list stint seems likely, but Tampa Bay wants to wait and see how he feels on Friday before making a final decision. Rays manager Kevin Cash delivered an ominous “not ideal” statement to reporters following Lowe’s early exit from Wednesday’s game against the Red Sox due to right side tightness. The 26-year-old five-category impact fantasy contributor dealt with a similar issue back in spring training and underwent an MRI on Thursday to determine the severity of the issue.       Corbin Carroll went 1-for-5 with a triple and two RBI against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

      Advice: Carroll put the Diamondbacks on the board in the fifth inning, hitting a triple off Tyler Glasnow to bring two runs in to score. He then cross home plate on a wild pitch. The 23-year-old outfielder has put together a modest five-game hitting streak. Carroll has struggled mightily to start the season, slashing .191/.275/.282 with two homers, 21 runs scored, 16 RBI, and eight steals across 211 plate appearances.     • Pulls Marlins to win
      Chisholm went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Brewers.

      Advice: Chisholm clubbed a leadoff homer in the first inning off Freddy Peralta, a long ball that ended up being the difference. In his last 16 games, Chisholm is batting .308 with three home runs, 13 runs and four stolen bases. The 26-year-old is one of seven players with at least seven long balls and nine stolen bases, joining Elly De La Cruz, Bobby Witt, Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Kyle Tucker on the exclusive list.       Fried (4-2) earned the win over the Cubs on Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits in a complete game. He struck out nine.

      Advice: Fried dominated the Cubs' lineup in his second complete game of the season, retiring the first 15 batters he faced before surrendering a leadoff double to Ian Happ to open the bottom of the sixth. The lefty produced 18 whiffs in the contest and finished with a season-high nine strikeouts, while also not issuing any walks for first time in his last five starts.       Bassitt (4-6) earned the win Wednesday over the White Sox, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out four over seven scoreless innings.

      Advice: Bassitt threw 70 of 107 pitches for strikes and no trouble protecting the large lead the Blue Jays established in the second inning. He's allowed three runs or fewer in each of his four starts in May, with Wednesday's effort being his best game of the year.       Merrill Kelly is scheduled to undergo a follow-up MRI exam on his injured shoulder this week to see how he is progressing.

      Advice: Kelly has been shelved since mid-April due to a right shoulder strain. Hopefully after this week’s exam, we’ll at least get some sort of timeline on how long it’ll be before we see him on a big league mound again.       Advice: Caballero had gone without a steal in his last seven games, matching his longest drought of the year, which he's now done three times. He's hitting .278 (15-for-54) over 18 games in May, picking up nine of his 18 steals on the year this month.       Advice: Pepiot returned from a lower left leg contusion that sent him to the injured list. He was cruising through the first four innings, but he put three straight batters on base to begin the fifth. Richard Lovelady couldn't slow down the Boston offense, leaving Pepiot to settle for a no-decision. The 26-year-old right-hander threw just 37 of 66 pitches for strikes in his return from injury. Pepiot now has a 3.98 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB over 40.2 innings across eight starts. It's unclear if his limited workload came from a pitch count or just the natural flow of the game.
