      Advice: Despite generating 16 whiffs out of his 98 total pitches, Cease managed to strike out only five, tying a season-low also reached on May 20 against Atlanta and April 27 against Philadelphia. The Padres ace was cruising through five innings, allowing just two baserunners; however, he unraveled in a 25-pitch sixth inning, allowing four baserunners and departing with just one out.       Suarez picked up the save Friday against Kansas City. He pitched one-third of an inning with no strikeouts, allowing no runs on one hit.

      Advice: Suarez entered to collect the last out in a bases-loaded jam with a five-run lead. After yielding a two-RBI single to Freddy Fermin, the San Diego closer induced a Nelson Velazquez flyout to secure the win. Suarez is now tied with Emmanuel Clase for second in the majors with 17 saves, trailing Ryan Helsley by one.       Dylan Cease allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Royals on Friday.

      Advice: Cease was pretty great to begin the year, posting a 2.19 ERA in his first eight starts, but this makes four straight outings that have missed the quality-start threshold.       Robert Suárez retired one of the two batters he faced for a save Friday against the Royals.

      Advice: The Padres were up 11-3 heading to the bottom of the ninth, but Stephen Kolek gave up hits to six of the eight batters he faced. That created a save situation for Suárez with the bases loaded in an 11-6 game.       Iglesias allowed a run in the ninth inning while picking up a save against Oakland on Friday.

      Advice: Iglesias notched his 14th save of the year with a fascinating outing. He gave up a leadoff double to Zach Gelof before recording three outs on three consecutive pitches. Gelof would come in to score after two straight groundouts but Atlanta secured the 4-2 win. Iglesias has converted six straight save chances and owns a 2.53 ERA through 21.1 innings.       Raisel Iglesias picked up his 14th save despite giving up a run in the ninth Friday against the A’s.

      The Padres are still evaluating Darvish's left hamstring injury and have not ruled out him making his next scheduled start Tuesday versus the Angels, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

      Advice: Darvish had to be lifted from Wednesday's outing against the Marlins after his hamstring tightened up on him. While it's a good sign he hasn't been placed on the 10-day injured list yet, no final determination has been made regarding his status for his next turn or a possible IL stint.       Padres’ manager Mike Shildt told reporters on Friday that Yu Darvish (hamsting) is still being evaluated and that there’s a chance he’ll be able to make his next scheduled start on Tuesday.

      Advice: This line is indicative of Caballero's skill set, as he's striking out at a 29.3 percent clip and has just a .306 on-base percentage. However, he has already racked up 20 stolen bases, only the second player to hit that mark at this point in the campaign.
