    • Grabs first hits, steal of season
Wisely went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one stolen base in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Wisely's playing time has been sparse, but he went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts and one RBI over his first five major-league games of the season. He got the start at shortstop Thursday and delivered with a multi-hit effort, as well as his first steal of the campaign. The utility man hit .175 with a .498 OPS, two home runs and two steals over 131 plate appearances in the majors last year. Wisely can cover the middle infield and all three outfield spots, but it's unlikely he comes anywhere near steady playing time in 2024. Rotowire.com Today, 8:12 pm

    • Logs three hits, steal in win
Schuemann went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Thursday's 10-9 extra-innings win over the Rockies.

Advice: Facing a four-run deficit in the bottom of the 11th inning, Schuemann sparked the Athletics' rally with an RBI double before scoring on Abraham Toro's single. Through 19 games in May, Schuemann is batting .317 (19-for-60) with five extra-base hits and six RBI. The 26-year-old is up to a .262/.344/.381 slash line with two home runs, three steals, nine RBI and 11 runs scored over 96 plate appearances. Schuemann should continue to start at shortstop, filling in for Darell Hernaiz (ankle), who is on the 60-day injured list and not eligible to return until July. Rotowire.com Today, 7:13 pm

    • Perez knocks in Tigers lone run Thursday
Wenceel Perez went 1-for-4 with an RBI against the Blue Jays on Thursday.

Advice: To say it was a quiet night for the Tigers offense would be an understatement. Detroit failed to record an extra-base hit on the night. Perez singled in the sixth inning to drive in Javier Baez and Carson Kelly was thrown out at home by Kevin Kiermaier on the same play. Perez has been the lone bright spot in the Tigers order recently. He’s hitting .295 with an .859 OPS and 14 RBI since his April call to the majors. Rotoworld Today, 6:34 pm

    • Edmundo Sosa has three hits in win over Rangers
Edmundo Sosa went 3-for-4 in a win Thursday over the Rangers.

Advice: Sosa hasn’t gotten much attention in 2024, but it’s probably time for that to change. The three-hit afternoon pushes the 28-year-old’s average up to .323, and he’s slugging .548 to show he’s not just dinking-and-dunking the baseball. It’s only a sample of 58 at-bats, but he’s likely earned more playing time based on what he’s done so far in 2024. Rotoworld Today, 1:20 pm

    • Not starting Thursday
Turner isn't in Toronto's lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: Turner will get a breather Thursday after reaching base three times during Wednesday's win over the White Sox. Daniel Vogelbach will fill in as the Jays' DH and bat fifth. Rotowire.com Today, 1:05 pm

    • Checking out of lineup Thursday
Rodgers is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Rodgers will be joined on the bench by Elias Diaz, Charlie Blackmon and Kris Bryant as the Rockies rest four key regulars for the day game after a night game. Alan Trejo will step in at second base in place of Rodgers, who had slashed .280/.314/.317 with zero home runs and his first career stolen base while starting in each of the Rockies' previous 20 games. • Moving back to bench role
Madrigal is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: Madrigal had started at second base or third base in seven of the past eight games, but his opportunities to pick up playing time in the infield are likely to be more limited moving forward after shortstop Dansby Swanson and second baseman Nico Hoerner both recently returned from injuries. The 27-year-old hasn't done much with the opportunities he's received with the Cubs this season, slashing .213/.276/.250 with no home runs and one stolen base across 87 plate appearances. • Homer, double in win
Winn went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Winn's seventh-inning solo shot ended up being the difference in this game. The shortstop is on a roll, having hit safely in his last 11 games. During that span, he's gone 15-for-41 (.366) with two homers, seven RBI and two stolen bases. He's up to a .295/.348/.432 slash line over 157 plate appearances this season, and he's now hit leadoff against the last two southpaws the Cardinals have faced. Rotowire.com Today, 10:02 am
    • Removed from 40-man roster
The Athletics designated Diaz for assignment Thursday.

Advice: At multiple points in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Diaz looked to bea mainstay in Oakland's lineup, but he failed to make the Opening Day roster coming out of spring training and struggled to get going at a hitter-friendly environment at Triple-A Las Vegas, slashing just .204/.288/.327 over 111 plate appearances. He's still just 23 years old, so Diaz could draw interest on waivers from a team that thinks it might be able to help him tap back into the promise he displayed earlier in his career.
