    • Freddie Freeman homers, swipes bag to lead Dodgers
      Freddie Freeman homered, swiped a base and drove in a pair of runs on Sunday, leading the Dodgers to a 4-0 victory over the Rockies.

      Advice: Freeman was the second member of the Dodgers’ lineup to victimize Austin Gomber in the opening inning, clobbering a 396-foot (104.1 mph EV) solo shot just off of the outstretched glove of Brenton Doyle to increase the Dodgers’ early lead to 2-0. The 34-year-old superstar then led off the third inning with a walk, swiped second base and scored on an RBI knock by Miguel Rojas. Freeman also plated a run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. For the season, he’s slashing .293/.399/.477 to go along with seven homers, 35 RBI and just two stolen bases.     • Luis Castillo dominates in victory over Angels
      Luis Castillo delivered a dominant performance in Sunday afternoon’s victory over the Angels, allowing just two hits and three walks over seven shutout innings.

      Advice: Castillo piled up six strikeouts in the impressive outing. The only real threat against him came in the fourth inning as the Angels used a pair of walks to put two men on with two outs for Jo Adell — who Castillo got to fly out harmlessly to center field. The 31-year-old hurler generated a staggering 21 swings and misses on 102 pitches in the contest — 13 of them on his fastball alone — while posting a strong CSW of 30 percent. Now 5-6 on the season, Castillo will carry a tidy 2.99 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and an 81/22 K/BB ratio (78 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s showdown against the Royals in Kansas City.       Castillo (5-6) allowed two hits and three walks while striking out six over seven scoreless innings to earn the win over the Angels on Sunday.

      Advice: Castillo's gone seven innings in three of his 13 starts this season, and he's kept runs off the board in the each of those outings. He allowed four runs in each of his first three starts of the season, but he hasn't given up more than three runs in any of his last 10 appearances, nine of which went down as quality starts.       Advice: Finnegan's strong season continued Sunday as his 16 saves are now tied for fourth in the major leagues.       Advice: Freeman went yard in the first inning and added a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The three walks he drew Sunday matched his total of free passes from his previous 13 games. Freeman's at a 13.4 percent walk rate on the year, to go along with an equally impressive 16.0 percent walks rate. The first baseman has a .293/.399/.477 slash line with seven homers, 35 RBI, 35 runs scored, two steals, 16 doubles and two triples over 61 contests.       Alexis Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning to secure a 5-2 win over the Cubs on Sunday.

      Advice: Díaz walked one and struck out on and was never really in any jeopardy. Of course, it’s been a struggle for him this season, and the command issues are a big reason why.       Duran tossed a clean ninth, striking out one to pick up his 10th save of the season Sunday against the Astros.

      Advice: After allowing a total of six baserunners and three unearned runs over his last three appearances totaling 2.1 innings, Duran ran into no such trouble Sunday, retiring the Astros in order to collect his 10th save in as many attempts. Though he's yet to blow a save, since making his season-debut April 30, Duran has not been as dominant with a K/9 rate of 8.4 compared with rates of 11.8 and 12.1 over his first two big-league seasons.     • Hand showing improvement
      Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Sunday that the swelling in Suarez's hand has improved significantly, and the left-hander could pick up a ball in the next day or two, Matt Gelb of The Athleticreports.

      Advice: The 28-year-old was struck in the left hand by a comebacker during Saturday's start against the Cardinals, but he's had X-rays come back negative and already appears to be progressing in his recovery. It remains to be seen if Suarez will be cleared for his next turn through the rotation, but he's certainly trending in the right direction. The Phillies also have three scheduled days off surrounding next weekend's two-game series versus the Mets in London, so the club could give Suarez some extra time between outings without needing an additional starter.       Advice: García took a sixth-inning offering from Trevor Rogers and hit it 395 feet at 108.2 mph for his 13th home run on the season. He also added an RBI earlier in the game and now has 40 RBI on the year, which has helped prop up a disappointing .231/.285/.462 slash line. As a free-swinger, García has always seemed at risk for batting average regression, and it’s possible he won’t match last year’s .245 batting average, but the power remains a true asset.
