    • Jeremy Peña blasts solo homer in loss
Jeremy Peña went 3-for-4 with a solo homer against the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: Peña had a productive day at the plate against New York, collecting three hits on the day. He knocked a pair of base hits in the fourth and sixth innings, then took Victor González deep for a solo homer in the eighth. The 26-year-old shortstop is slashing .326/.367/.464 with four homers, 21 runs scored, 14 RBI, and five steals across 147 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:50 pm

    • Another start in center
Castro will start in center field and bat seventh for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: It's the 21st staight start for Castro, who has also been in the lineup at shortstop, third base and in left field during that stretch. Third base and center field will likely be Castro's primary homes for the foreseeable future while Royce Lewis (quadricep) and Byron Buxton (knee) remain on the injured list. • Brent Rooker swats three-run homer in A’s win
Brent Rooker went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Rangers.

Advice: Rooker finished off a three-hit effort with a towering 427-foot blast -- his ninth round-tripper of the season -- to straightaway center field in the seventh inning to cap off Oakland’s nine-run offensive explosion in the front-end of Wednesday’s twin bill. • Seeing steady playing time
DeLuca will start in right field and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Since being activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, DeLuca has started in each of the Rays' ensuing six games while going 7-for-18 with three extra-base hits (one home run, one triple and one double), 10 RBI, three runs and two stolen bases. Tampa Bay is back to full strength in its outfield with Jose Siri recently returning from a two-game suspension and Josh Lowe coming off the IL on Monday, but DeLuca hasn't given any reason for manager Kevin Cash to take him out of the lineup just yet. Over the long haul, the right-handed-hitting DeLuca could settle into a short-side platoon role, but expect him to continue playing at least semi-regularly until his bat cools. • Luis Arraez scores two runs in win over Cubs
Luis Arraez went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored on Wednesday, leading the Padres to a 3-0 victory over the Cubs.

Advice: Arraez wound up reaching base safely in two of his four plate appearances, crossing the plate in the first and fifth innings, respectively, on run-scoring hits from teammates Manny Machado and Jake Cronenworth. The 27-year-old batting title contender has a pair of multi-hit performances in five contests since arriving last week in San Diego. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:17 pm

    • Sent to IL with forearm fracture
The Cardinals placed Contreras on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Contreras fractured his left forearm when he was struck by J.D. Martinez's bat on a catcher's interference call during Tuesday's 7-5 loss. He will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair the fracture and is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks. Ivan Herrera will be the Cardinals' primary catcher while Contreras is out, while Pedro Pages has been recalled from Triple-A Memphis to take Contreras' roster spot and serve as the team's No. 2 backstop. • Cardinals place Willson Contreras on 10-day IL
Cardinals placed Willson Contreras on the 10-day injured list with a left arm fracture.

Advice: Contreras will need more than the minimum 10 days as the 31-year-old backstop suffered a broken left forearm during Tuesday’s game against the Mets. Contreras was struck by a swing from J.D Martinez that collided with the middle of the forearm and carried through to his wrist. He’ll have to undergo surgery and is expected to miss at least six to eight weeks. In the meantime, Iván Herrera and Pedro Pagés will handle catching duties while Contreras is sidelined. • Four-hit night
Heim went 4-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's 15-8 win over Oakland.

Advice: Heim extended a hit streak to five games, during which he's 10-for-17 with four walks, four RBI and eight runs scored. The catcher ranks third on the team with 22 RBI and fifth in runs (16) over 31 contests. With a doubleheader coming up Wednesday, Heim will likely sit out the matinee. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:57 am
