Buehler allowed three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out four batters over four innings in a no-decision against Miami on Monday.

Advice: Buehler had a favorable matchup in his first major-league start since mid-June of 2022, as he squared off against the team with the third-worst record in baseball. That didn't seem to matter early, though, as the Marlins jumped on the right-hander for a pair of first-inning runs on a trio of singles. However, Buehler's fastball velocity averaged a solid 96.6 mph in the frame, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, which foreshadowed him settling down to allow just one more run over the remainder of his outing. Not surprisingly, the 29-year-old wasn't pushed too hard in his return to the majors, as he was pulled after 77 pitches and four frames rather than being allowed to complete the fifth and qualify for the win. Assuming Buehler comes out of the start without any setbacks, Monday's outing will likely serve as a foundation on which he can build up to a higher pitch count moving forward. He's tentatively lined up to make his next start on the road in San Diego this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:22 pm
    • Walker Buehler goes four innings in season debut
Walker Buehler allowed three runs over four innings in a start Monday against the Marlins.

Advice: He allowed six hits with no walks, and he struck out four. Buehler didn’t get deep enough to qualify for the win, as he threw 77 pitches in his first start since June of 2022. The right-hander gave up a pair of run-scoring singles in the first and a homer to Nick Gordon in the second, but Buehler settled down nicely over the final two innings, and showed flashes of the ace hurler he was prior to Tommy John surgery. Buehler will try and work deeper in his next start, scheduled for Sunday against the Padres. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:30 pm
    • Officially activated
Buehler (elbow) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list ahead of Monday's start against the Marlins.

Advice: As expected, Buehler will toe the rubber Monday evening in his first MLB action since undergoing Tommy John surgery in August 2022. He cruised through five innings April 30 during his final rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City, surrendering one run while fanning five batters, but even so, expect the club to keep a close eye on the right-hander's pitch count in the series opener. • Christian Yelich (backs) takes BP on field
Christian Yelich (back) was able to take part in batting practice on the field before Monday’s game against the Royals.

Advice: Brewers manager Pat Murphy told reporters that this was likely the final step before Yelich can return to the lineup. That could mean Yelich won’t take part in a rehab assignment, and assuming he recovers well from this session, the 32-year-old could be back in the lineup by the end of the week. • Hits on field Monday
Yelich (back) did some hitting on the field Monday, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.

Advice: It's the first time Yelich has hit on the field since he went on the injured list three weeks ago with a lower-back strain. Brewers manager Pat Murphy had indicated previously that it would likely be the final step before Yelich returns to action, although it's not clear whether he might need to go out on a rehab assignment first. The 32-year-old was off to a .333/.422/.744 start with five home runs in 11 contests before getting hurt. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:12 pm

    • Walker Buehler (elbow) activated for start vs. MIA
Dodgers activated RHP Waker Buehler off the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Buehler will get a chance to make his first start in 20 months after recovering from Tommy John surgery. The right-hander was up to 75 pitches in rehab starts, and he should be able to work the necessary five innings to qualify for a potential win. Fantasy managers should absolutely give Buehler a chance if he’s still on the waiver wire. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:04 pm
    • Garrett (shoulder) whiffs 13 in rehab start
Braxton Garrett (shoulder) struck out 13 batters over 5 2/3 innings in a rehab start Monday in the Florida Complex League.

Advice: Garrett didn’t allow a run and gave up just one hit. It’s really not fair to FCL hitters they had to face a talent like the 26-year-old, but the Marlins wanted Garrett to get one more rehab start. His next outing should come at the MLB level. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:30 pm

    • Strikes out 13 in rehab start
Garrett (shoulder) struck out 13 batters and allowed one hit and one walk over 5.2 scoreless innings in his rehab start Monday for the Marlins' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate.

Advice: Though he was facing off against a lineup consisting mostly of teenage hitters, Garrett was dominant nonetheless in what was likely his fifth and final minor-league rehab start. Garrett, who has been on the 15-day injured list all season while recovering from a left shoulder impingement, will likely be activated this weekend to start Saturday or Sunday versus the Phillies for what will be his 2024 debut with the Marlins. • Scratched from lineup
Rengifo was scratched from the lineup for Monday's game in Pittsburgh, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: He had been set to return following a two-game absence due to illness, but Fletcherrelays that Rengifo is still experiencing some symptoms of the ailment and will get another day off to recover. Brandon Drury was added to the lineup as Rengifo's replacement at second base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:15 pm
