    • Strong in return
Lodolo (4-2) allowed a run on five hits over 5.1 innings Monday, striking out three and earning a win over St. Louis.

Advice: Aside from Paul Goldschmidt's first-inning solo shot, Lodolo kept the Cardinals quiet while cruising to a victory. It was Lodolo's first start since May 11 after a trip to the injured list due to a groin issue. Before that IL stint, he lost two straight starts while coughing up eight total runs through 11 innings. Lodolo now owns a 3.12 ERA with a 46:9 K:BB through seven starts. His next outing is lined up to be on the road against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:32 pm

    • Nick Lodolo earns win in return from IL
Nick Lodolo limited the Cardinals to one run in 5 1/3 innings in the Reds’ 3-1 victory Monday.

Advice: Lodolo walked none and struck out three in an 81-pitch outing in his return from the injured list. It’s hard to say whether his body is going to hold up, but he’s a fine mixed-league SP while healthy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:00 pm

    • Paul Goldschmidt hits third homer in two days
Paul Goldschmidt hit his third homer in two days to give the Cardinals their only run Monday against the Reds.

Advice: Goldschmidt didn’t crush this one; technically, it wasn’t even a hard-hit ball at 94.3 mph. He hit it to the right spot, though. This little outburst has led to calls that Goldschmidt is back, but we want to see the K rate drop some before we buy into that. His 31% strikeout rate this year is a huge increase over his career mark of 22%. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:00 pm
    • Reds activate Nick Lodolo from IL
Reds activated LHP Nick Lodolo from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Lodolo was off to a tremendous start to the season, with his 3.34 ERA and 43/9 K/BB ratio in six starts after returning from his leg injury from last year. The 26-year-old has yet to have arm problems in his MLB career but has been banged up continuously. The Reds will hope he can remain healthy for the rest of the season, but he is a risky start today after not making a rehab appearance prior to being activated. Carson Speirs was sent to the minors in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:26 am

    • Activated ahead of start
Lodolo (groin) was activated from the 15-day injured list Monday ahead of his scheduled start against the Cardinals.

Advice: An extended bullpen session last Wednesday put Lodolo in the clear to return after the minimum, and without a rehab assignment. The left-hander has pitched brilliantly in between IL stints this season, posting a 3.34 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 43:9 K:BB over 35 innings. While he may not be available for 90-plus pitches right away in his return, there has been nothing to suggest Lodolo will face any major restrictions against St. Louis. • Powers team with two homers
Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a pair of two-run home runs in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Goldschmidt opened up the scoring with a 424-foot two-run shot off Javier Assad in the third. He then followed up with another two-run blast in the fifth to put the Cardinals up 4-0, which was enough for them to hold onto the win. In 12 games since May 12, the 36-year-old is slashing .308/.357/.596 with four home runs, 10 RBI and nine runs scored. Sunday also marked his first multi-homer game since May 23, 2023. Despite his strong form of late, Goldschmidt is still underdelivering for fantasy managers on the whole this season, slashing .222/.298/.345 with six home runs, 21 RBI, 25 runs and three stolen bases across 215 plate appearances. • Paul Goldschmidt powers Cardinals past Cubs
Paul Goldschmidt clobbered a pair of two-run homers on Sunday night, powering the Cardinals to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Cubs.

Advice: The 36-year-old slugger opened the scoring in the ballgame with a 424-foot (110.0 mph EV) two-run shot off of Javier Assad in the third inning. He then repeated the process in the fifth inning — that time a 399-foot (104.3 mph) two-run bomb. Goldschmidt finished the evening 2-for-4, raising his season-slash to a still disappointing .222/.298/.345 to go along with six homers, 21 RBI and three stolen bases. Rotoworld Sunday, 9:20 pm
    • Picks up ninth save
Jansen pitched a flawless ninth inning and picked up the save Sunday against Milwaukee. He struck out two.

Advice: Jansen notched his ninth save of the season, preserving a 2-1 Boston lead in the ninth inning. The right-hander continues to have a firm grip on the Boston closer role, as no other Boston reliever has registered more than two saves this season. The 36-year-old veteran is now 9-for-10 in save chances this season with a 3.06 ERA. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:53 pm

    • Kenley Jansen perfect in earning ninth save
Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth, striking out two, for a save Sunday against the Brewers.

Advice: Jansen’s save was his ninth in 10 chances. He’ll be a trade candidate this summer and there’s the chance he’ll go to a team that won’t employ him as a closer, but he’s a top-15 reliever for now. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:18 pm
