      Advice: Holmes came on in relief in the eighth after Nick Burdi loaded the bases. He'd induce a grounder off the bat of Luke Raley for the final out before working around a pair of singles in the ninth to earn his 14th save. It's a nice bounce-back effort from Holmes, after he allowed four runs in a blown save against Seattle on Monday, the first four runs he's allowed this season.       Raisel Iglesias fired a perfect ninth inning on Thursday against the Cubs to collect his 12th save of the season.

      Advice: Iglesias received the call to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and required just 12 pitches (nine strikes) to end it. The 34-year-old veteran stopper has been one of the top closers in the entire fantasy landscape this season, converting 12 of 14 save chances to accompany a solid 2.33 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 14/5 K/BB ratio ac ross 19 1/3 innings (20 appearances).     • Shaky results in no-decision
      Javier did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's win over the Angels, allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out one over four innings.

      Advice: Javier's night got started off on the wrong foot after surrendering a two-run blast to Luis Rengifo in the opening frame. The Angels then got to him for two more runs in the fourth on a trio of hits, which included an RBI-double from Zach Neto. It was a very discouraging performance after Javier put together his best start of the season his previous outing against the A's. After the game, he cited his struggles due to poor mechanics, though he's now given up 11 runs on 13 hits and seven walks while striking out just one batter in 5.1 innings in his two starts surrounding his gem against Oakland.       Cristian Javier was removed after giving up four runs and eight hits in four innings Tuesday against the Angels.

      Advice: Javier’s stuff was well off tonight; he averaged just 90.4 mph with his fastball, which was down 1.5 mph from his previous average this season. He wound up with just one strikeout and three walks. All things considered, he was lucky to give up just the four runs. Javier said afterwards that the decline in velocity was due to poor mechanics and not anything injury-related, so that’s probably good. He’ll face the Mariners next.       Blanco (suspension) will be added to Houston's active roster Sunday and will start in the club's series finale in Oakland that day, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

    • Espada: Ronel Blanco likely back Sunday vs. A’s
      Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Ronel Blanco will likely start on Sunday against the Athletics.

      Advice: Blanco is currently serving an automatic 10-game suspension for violating the league’s illegal foreign substance rules, but he’s in line for a tasty matchup in his return against the struggling Athletics.     • Ends Game 2 of twin bill with save
      Iglesias notched a save in the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the Padres, striking out one batter in a perfect inning of work.

      Advice: Atlanta got seven dominant scoreless innings from Chris Sale before Pierce Johnson took over with a scoreless frame in the eighth. Iglesias then completed the shutout with a perfect 13-pitch ninth. The veteran closer hasn't posted his usual big strikeout numbers with just a 12:5 K:BB over 18.1 innings, but he's converted 11 of 13 save chances this season while registering a 2.45 ERA and 1.15 WHIP.       Gray (6-2) allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.2 innings to earn the win Monday over the Orioles.

      Advice: Gray gave up a three-run blast to Gunnar Henderson in the sixth inning, but the Cardinals were able to maintain their lead after that. The long ball has become a problem for the veteran right-hander -- he's surrendered five homers while giving up 14 runs (12 earned) over his last 16.2 innings. He's still managed to win two of his three starts in that span. Gray is at a 2.87 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 59:10 K:BB through 47 innings across eight starts this season. He allowed all of eight homers in 32 starts last year, so it's worth keeping an eye on whether Gray can keep the ball down better moving forward.       Sonny Gray allowed one earned run, struck out six in 5 2/3 innings, picked up the win and appeared to ask Cardinals manager Oli Marmol to remove him from the game in the Cardinals’ 6-3 victory over the Orioles on Monday.

      Advice: We’ll have another update on Gray’s status when we know more. The win was Gray’s sixth of the season. He cruised through the first five innings. In the sixth inning, after two men reached on errors, he allowed a three-run home run to Gunnar Henderson. Four batters later, he appeared to ask out of the game and was removed for JoJo Romero, who escaped the jam. The 34-year-old right-hander is tentatively scheduled to face the Cubs at home on Saturday.
