    • Homers in three-hit game
Torkelson went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two additional runs scored in Sunday's 14-11 victory over Toronto.

Advice: Torkelson entered this game in an 0-for-19 slump but broke out in a big way, registering his first three-hit game since April 19. The 24-year-old took Blue Jays starter Yusei Kikuchi deep in the fourth inning, his fourth home run over his past 13 games. On the season, the 2020 No. 1 draft pick is batting .218 with four home runs, 18 RBI and 24 runs scored in 50 games played. Rotowire.com Sunday, 2:22 pm

    • Spencer Torkelson goes 3-for-5, homers
Spencer Torkelson finished 3-for-5 with a homer and a double against the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Advice: Torkelson didn’t play Saturday after going hitless in his previous five games. Still, this makes four homers in 13 games for him after he went his first 37 games without one. The problem is that he has just six other hits in those 13 games, and his average has actually dropped a bit during the span. He’s at .218/.286/.358 for the season. Rotoworld Sunday, 12:27 pm

    • Triston Casas on track to start swinging next week
Triston Casas (rib) told reporters Saturday that he’s on track to resume swinging a bat next week.

Advice: Casas has been on the shelf, and unable to resume hitting at all, since suffering torn cartilage in his left rib cage back in mid-April. The 24-year-old slugger doesn’t have a firm return timetable yet, but the fact that he’ll resume swinging soon provides some optimism that he’ll be ready to return when first eligible on June 21. • Spencer Torkelson on bench Saturday amid slump
Spencer Torkelson is not in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Blue Jays.

Advice: It’s Torkelson’s first off day since April 28. The 24-year-old former top prospect has shown the occasional glimpses of big-time power potential, but he’s batting just .207/.279/.330 with three homers and 17 RBI in 209 plate appearances over 49 contests. He’s gone 0-for-16 at the dish over his last five games and will get some time off to reset mentally. It’ll be Mark Canha drawing a rare start at the hot corner in his absence. • Resting Saturday
Torkelson isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Saturday's game against Toronto, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Torkelson will get a day to clear his head after going 0-for-16 across his last five contests. Mark Canha will cover first base for the Tigers on Saturday, moving Colt Keith into the DH spot while Zach McKinstry starts at second. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:59 am

    • Taking grounders
Casas (ribs) took grounders at first base Friday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Casas began throwing during Boston's previous homestand and has also been running and lifting. The next step for Casas will be swinging a bat, which requires rotation and puts more stress on the ribs and torso. No target date has been set for that yet. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:09 am

    • Homers again in Sunday's loss
Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Torkelson got the Tigers on the board with a solo blast to center off Jordan Montgomery in the third inning and later scored once more after reaching on a fielder's choice. After not homering in his first 37 games of the season, Torkelson now has three home runs in his last seven games and seems to finally be heating up after a slow start to the year. The 24-year-old also has at least a hit in 12 of 13 games dating back to May 5 and is now slashing .227/.291/.360 with 17 RBI, 21 runs and a 13:43 BB:K in 189 plate appearances. • Spencer Torkelson goes deep in loss to D’Backs
Spencer Torkelson clubbed his third home run of the season on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to power the Tigers past the Diamondbacks in Arizona.

Advice: The 24-year-old slugger got the Tigers on the board in the third inning, crushing a 428-foot (106.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Jordan Montgomery in the third inning. He also reached on a fielder’s choice in the seventh inning and scored on an RBI triple off the bat of Kerry Carpenter that was nearly an inside-the-park home run. Torkelson finished the afternoon 1-for-4 and is now hitting .227/.291/.360 with three long balls and 17 RBI. Rotoworld May 19, 4:16 pm
