Rengifo went 1-for-3 with a run and a stolen base in a 2-1 victory versus the Padres on Monday.

Advice: Offense in the contest was scarce, so Rengifo's role in producing the Angels' first run was especially valuable. He singled with one out in the fourth inning and stole second base before eventually crossing the plate on a Willie Calhoun single. Rengifo missed some time in May due to an illness, but he hasn't slowed down since returning, slashing .313/.353/.484 with two homers, six RBI, 10 runs and four stolen bases in 16 contests. The infielder leads the team and is tied for 12th in the majors with 13 thefts on the campaign. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago

    • Report: Marlins to DFA Avisail Garcia
Craig Mish of Sportsgrid reports that the Marlins will designate outfielder Avisail Garcia for assignment.

Advice: That means the Marlins will ended up eating the remaining salary of his 2024 season along with $12 million in 2025 and another $5 million for his buyout in 2026. That’s assuming he goes unclaimed, of course. He isn’t going to be claimed. Garcia has been a massive disappointment since signing his four-year $52 million contract prior to 2022, and he’ll all but assuredly hit free agency after he goes unclaimed. Rotoworld 56 minutes ago
    • DFA'd by Miami
The Marlins activated Garcia (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday and designated him for assignment, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Garcia is in the third year of a four-year, $53 million contract and the Marlins have elected to eat the nearly $24 million remaining on that deal. Slated to turn 33 next week, Garcia has managed just a .217/.260/.322 line over 153 games during his three seasons with Miami. He will clear waivers and eventually be released, at which point another team will be able to sign Garcia for the prorated veteran minimum. Rotowire.com 57 minutes ago
    • Returns from stint on IL
The Twins activated Lewis (quad) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Lewis is ready to go following an absence of nearly 10 weeks due to a strained right quad. The 24-year-old went 4-for-23 with an 8:1 K:BB over 24 plate appearances during a six-game rehab stint with Triple-A St. Paul. Per Dan Hayes of The Athletic, the Twins have instructed Lewis to run at less than full speed in hopes that it will give him a better chance of staying healthy. While that could put a bit of a damper on his stolen base outlook, it's not a big part of Lewis' game, anyway, as he's totaled just six steals in 71 career games. Lewis will regain his role as the Twins' everyday third baseman, with Jose Miranda likely to now see reps in the designated hitter spot and/or first base. Rotowire.com Today, 8:24 am
    • MLB suspends Rodriguez for violating betting policy
MLB suspended INF Jose Rodriguez for violating Major League Baseball’s betting policy.

Advice: It was determined that Rodriguez bet on baseball while he was with the White Sox organization, but that he didn’t appear in any games he played in or compromised the outcome. He’ll be eligible to return in the summer of 2025. Rotoworld Today, 7:53 am

    • Suspended for one year
Rodriguez has been suspended one year for violating Major League Baseball's gambling policy, Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports.

Advice: The investigation determined that Rodriguez bet a total of $749.09 on baseball during a time he was assigned to the White Sox' Double-A Birmingham affiliate. He did not appear in any of the games on which he wagered the MLB determined the outcomes of the contests were not compromised in any fashion. Rodriguez is currently on the Phillies' 40-man roster and assigned to its Double-A Reading affiliate. Rotowire.com Today, 7:43 am

    • Marcano banned for violating betting policy
Tucupita Marcano has been banned from baseball for life for violating Major League Baseball’s betting policy.

Advice: This was first reported by Lindsay Adler and Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal on Monday, and now it’s official. The investigation by MLB found that Marcano bet more than $150,000 on baseball, with $87,319 of that on bets related to baseball. The league did determine the bets didn’t compromise the outcomes of any games, but that won’t change Marcano’s status. Rotoworld Today, 7:33 am

    • Lifetime ban for sports betting
Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that Marcano has been issued a lifetime ban for violating the league's gambling policy, Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports.

Advice: MLB's investigation found that Marcano bet more than $150,000 on baseball, with $87,319 being in MLB-related wagers. Marcano didn't play in any of the games he bet on, and the league has determined the outcomes of the games in which he placed bets weren't compromised in any way. The 24-year-old had been on the Padres' 10-day injured list while completing a recovery from ACL surgery. Rotowire.com Today, 7:24 am

    • Drives in three Monday
Winker went 3-for-4 with a walk and three RBI in Monday's loss to the Mets.

Advice: All three hits were singles, but it was still a productive night for Winker. His performance was marred by a caught stealing to end the second inning, however -- one of many mistakes by the Nats in what proved to be a one-run loss. The 30-year-old outfielder is batting .333 (11-for-33) over the last 10 games, but his only extra-base hit during that stretch is a double, and his homer drought currently stands at 13 games.
