• Goes on family emergency list
The Guardians placed Arias on the family medical emergency list.

Advice: By rule, Arias will be away from the club for the next 3-to-7 days. Angel Martinez will take his spot on the Guardians' roster. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago

  • Sees time at hot corner Thursday
Diaz drew a start at third base in Thursday's loss to the Royals, going 1-for-2 before being lifted for a pinch hitter in the seventh inning.

Advice: The veteran drew only his fifth start of June and delivered his third hit of the season across 24 plate appearances. Diaz began the month logging what was a third straight start at the time, but his sparse playing time since and advanced age may imply he's not much longer for the roster of an Athletics team that will increasingly focus on developing young players as the remainder of the season unfolds. • Returns from injured list
The Royals reinstated Renfroe (toe) from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Advice: The 32-year-old resumed taking swings over the weekend and is back on the active roster after spending the 10-day minimum on the shelf with a bruised toe. Renfroe had a hot start to June prior to the injury as he went 7-for-18 with two doubles, two homers and six RBI in six games. Rotowire.com Today, 8:47 am
  • Out against left-hander
Busch is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Mets.

Advice: The Mets are sending southpaw Jose Quintana to the bump, which means Busch will begin this one on the bench. Patrick Wisdom is getting the start at first base. Rotowire.com Today, 8:44 am

  • Drives in four
O'Hearn went 2-for-5 with a walk and four RBI in Thursday's 17-5 win over the Yankees.

Advice: O'Hearn logged his third multi-hit effort in his last four contests. The lefty slugger is batting .358 (19-for-53) with 12 RBI over 16 games in June. He's up to a .289/.347/.477 slash line with nine home runs, 30 RBI, 26 runs scored, two stolen bases and eight doubles over 59 games. O'Hearn will continue to play in a strong-side platoon role with few opportunities to step into the lineup versus southpaws. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:26 pm

  • Continues piping hot June
Santana went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, double and an additional run scored Thursday against the Rays.

Advice: Santana extended his modest hit streak to six games and posted his second three-hit game of the season while blasting his 12th home run Thursday. The 38-year-old has found the fountain of youth in June, going 20-for-55 (.364) with four homers, five doubles, 15 RBI, 10 runs and a couple of steals through 16 games this month. • Jhonkensy Noel plates two on Thursday at Triple-A
Guardians 1B/OF prospect Jhonkensy Noel went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI on Thursday for Triple-A Columbus.

Advice: Noel’s stock slipped a bit last year as he struggled in the upper minors, but he’s really turned things around this year, cutting back on the strikeouts and still hitting for power. The 22-year-old slugger has 17 round-trippers in 62 games so far this season at Triple-A Columbus. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him get a shot in Cleveland at some point later this year. • Carlos Santana homers, gets three hits in loss
Carlos Santana went 3-for-5 with a homer in a loss to the Rays on Thursday in extra-innings.

Advice: Santana’s homer made it 6-3 in the ninth, and Minnesota scored three more runs to take the game into extras before falling. The 38-year-old has gone deep 12 times, and while he hasn’t helped much in the average category (.247), he’s been a solid power-producer; particularly since scuffling over the first three weeks. • Moves rehab to Triple-A
Foscue (oblique) was transferred to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday to continue his rehab assignment.

Advice: Foscue went 7-for-17 with one home run in six games with the Rangers' Arizona Complex League affiliate after missing two months with a left oblique strain. He could be ready for activation soon, but Foscue isn't a given to rejoin the major-league roster at that time. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:02 pm
