• Pops eighth homer
Thomas went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The 28-year-old outfielder took Ryne Nelson deep in the third inning to give the Nationals an early lead that quickly slipped away. Thomas had a tough start to the season due to injuries, but he appears healthy now and back in his 2023 form. He's hit safely in 11 of the last 13 games, slashing .292/.345/.667 over that stretch with five of his eight homers on the year and 12 of his 23 runs. Rotowire.com Today, 6:41 am
  • Delivers two in win
Grichuk went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Grichuk lined a two-out double that plated Arizona's eventual winning run as part of a three-run fourth inning. He's been productive in a part-time role, mainly starting against left-handers, and is batting .304/.360/.464 through 46 games. His .824 OPS is a career-high. Rotowire.com Today, 5:53 am
  • Tallies two thefts Thursday
Taylor went 2-for-3 with a walk and two stolen bases in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Rockies.

Advice: It's been a brutal season for Taylor, as evidenced by the fact that this was his first multi-hit game. The utility man capitalized on reaching base three times by swiping two bags after entering Thursday with just one steal this season. Taylor is still slashing a putrid .131/.230/.192 on the campaign, but he's at least shown some signs of life of late, going 5-for-15 over his past six contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:34 pm

  • Drives in four
O'Hearn went 2-for-5 with a walk and four RBI in Thursday's 17-5 win over the Yankees.

Advice: O'Hearn logged his third multi-hit effort in his last four contests. The lefty slugger is batting .358 (19-for-53) with 12 RBI over 16 games in June. He's up to a .289/.347/.477 slash line with nine home runs, 30 RBI, 26 runs scored, two stolen bases and eight doubles over 59 games. O'Hearn will continue to play in a strong-side platoon role with few opportunities to step into the lineup versus southpaws. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:26 pm

  • Goes deep in win
Hays went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Thursday's 17-5 win over the Yankees.

Advice: Hays has gone 9-for-24 (.375) over his last nine games, though he also has a 1:7 BB:K in that span. The outfielder has had to settle for a short-side platoon role in left field recently, sharing the position with Colton Cowser. For the year, Hays has a .239/.298/.381 slash line with three homers, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored, seven doubles and no stolen bases over 45 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:20 pm
  • Report: Astros to recall Joey Loperfido on Friday
KPRC 2 Houston’s Ari Alexander reports the Astros are recalling top prospect Joey Loperfido for Friday’s series opener against the Orioles.

Advice: No surprise here as the injury-depleted Astros find themselves desperate for some extra offensive firepower. The 25-year-old slugging prospect boasts big-time over-the-fence pop, but still has some strikeout issues to address. There might be a clearer path to regular at-bats at first base moving forward with veteran José Abreu no longer in the picture, but he doesn’t have a ton of experience at the cold corner. There’s some mixed-league fantasy potential here if he becomes a mainstay in Houston’s offensive nucleus, but that probably won’t happen overnight. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:14 pm

  • Jhonkensy Noel plates two on Thursday at Triple-A
Guardians 1B/OF prospect Jhonkensy Noel went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI on Thursday for Triple-A Columbus.

Advice: Noel’s stock slipped a bit last year as he struggled in the upper minors, but he’s really turned things around this year, cutting back on the strikeouts and still hitting for power. The 22-year-old slugger has 17 round-trippers in 62 games so far this season at Triple-A Columbus. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him get a shot in Cleveland at some point later this year. • Clubs two homers
Brennan went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs and a double Thursday against the Mariners.

Advice: Brennan cranked his first long ball off Luis Castillo in the second to tie the game, then blasted a second off Trent Thornton that provided the winning margin for the Guardians. It was the first career two-homer game for Brennan, who also sandwiched in a ground rule double in the fourth to give him three extra-base hits on the day. Brennan has caught fire of late as this was the fourth time he's had multiple hits in his last six games, giving him 10 hits in 24 at-bats (.417) with two homers, two doubles, four RBI and six runs scored during that timeframe. • Lifted with injury
Yastrzemski exited Thursday's game against the Cardinals due to left side tightness, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Yastrzemski exited the game in the fourth inning and was seen departing the field with a trainer. It's unclear how the injury occurred or how long he may be sidelined. Austin Slater entered the game in Yastrzemski's place. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:52 pm
