    • Tosses six shutout frames
Assad (3-0) allowed four hits and three walks over six scoreless innings Sunday, striking out four and earning a win over the Brewers.

Advice: Assad scattered baserunners throughout his start but never faced any heavy threats. He's allowed two or fewer runs in each of his first seven outings of 2024, but Sunday's performance was his first quality start since his season debut April 2. Assad dropped his season ERA to 1.66 with a 31:12 K:BB through 38 innings. He failed to factor into the decision in his previous three starts despite registering a 1.76 ERA over that span. Assad is currently in line to start in Pittsburgh next weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:24 pm

    • Solid over six frames versus Boston
Ryan (1-2) was tagged with the loss after he pitched six innings, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five batters in Sunday's 9-2 defeat to the Red Sox.

Advice: Ryan tossed three scoreless frames to open his outing Sunday before giving up an RBI double to Rob Refsnyder in the fourth and then a two-run homer to Ceddanne Rafaela in the fifth inning. The right-hander has now recorded three straight quality starts, and he has yet to allow more than three runs in any outing this season. Ryan will carry a 3.54 ERA and 1.01 WHIP into his next projected start Friday in Toronto. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:17 pm

    • Dominates with 12 Ks
Skubal did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings against the Yankees. He struck out 12.

Advice: Skubal continues to dominate, as the 12 strikeouts were a season high and marked the first double-digit strikeout effort of the campaign for the ace lefty. It was the sixth time in seven games Skubal has allowed two or fewer earned runs, as the outing raised his ERA to 1.90 with a 0.77 WHIP and 53 strikeouts over 42.2 innings. He's tentatively lined up to toe the rubber next weekend when the Astros come to Detroit for a three-game set. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:12 pm
    • Tarik Skubal strikes out 12 in no-decision
Tarik Skubal pitched well in a no-decision against the Yankees on Sunday afternoon, piling up 12 strikeouts over six innings of two-run baseball.

Advice: The hard-throwing southpaw allowed six hits on the day and didn’t allow a base on balls. All of the damage done against him came in the first two innings, as Aaron Judge crushed a solo homer in the first and Oswaldo Cabrera added an RBI double in the second. Skubal generated 18 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the day — a whopping 12 of those on his changeup — while posting a ridiculous CSW of 44 percent. Skubal will carry a stellar 1.90 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and a 53/6 K/BB ratio (42 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s showdown against the Astros. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:05 pm
    • Javier Assad fires six scoreless to defeat Brewers
Javier Assad delivered a strong performance in Sunday afternoon’s victory over the Brewers, scattering just four hits over six innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander struck out four batters while issuing three free passes in the ballgame. The Brewers never really mounted a serious scoring threat against him, and he was able to cruise to an easy victory in this one. Assad got seven swings and misses on 94 pitches on the afternoon, registering a CSW of 29 percent. Now 3-0 on the season, Assad sports an impressive 1.66 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 31/12 K/BB ratio over 38 innings through his first seven starts on the season. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he takes on the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Saturday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:42 pm

    • Resumes throwing program
Rodriguez (shoulder) played catch from 60-to-75 feet Sunday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Rodriguez landed on the injured list with shoulder inflammation following his April 29 start against the Yankees, and he ended up being shut down from throwing for only a few days. The right-hander could soon ramp up to bullpen sessions, and it remains to be seen if he'll require a minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining Baltimore's rotation. • Joe Ryan gets loss after quality start
Joe Ryan pitched six innings and allowed three runs Sunday in a loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Ryan still hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in a start and he’s completed six innings five times, but all he has to show for it is a 1-2 record to go along with his 3.54 ERA and 46/6 K/BB ratio. He’ll get the Blue Jays next. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:24 pm

    • Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) throws from 75 feet
Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) was able to throw off flat ground Sunday.

Advice: Orioles pitching coach Drew French told reporters that Rodriguez threw from 60-75 foot away and that it was a “good day” for him. The right-hander has been on the shelf since May 1 with shoulder inflammation, and while there’s no timetable for his return, it’s certainly a positive development that he’s able to throw a few days later. • Posts quality start Saturday
Suarez (6-0) collected the win Saturday versus the Giants, permitting three runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: There was a rain delay before the game and more inclement weather during the contest, but Suarez seemed undaunted as he became the first six-game winner in baseball (Tyler Glasnow joined him later Saturday). It speaks to how well Suarez has pitched this season that this was easily his worst start since his first outing of the season when he allowed three runs in five innings. The three runs the left-hander gave up Saturday matched his total from his previous five starts. With a matchup versus the Marlins looming next week, Suarez has a good chance to keep rolling.
