    Advice: Maton entered the contest with a two-run lead in the top of the ninth and needed six pitches to retire the leadoff batter before surrendering a walk to Harrison Bader. However, the right-hander was able to record the final two outs following the free pass to secure his first save of the season. Maton has now pitched two scoreless innings over his last two appearances after being tagged with the loss against the White Sox a week ago.     Littell allowed one run on six hits while striking out seven in a no-decision against the Mets on Saturday.

    Advice: The only run Littell allowed on the night came across in the first inning after the right-hander allowed a leadoff double to Brandon Nimmo to open the frame, followed by an RBI single from Starling Marte. From there, Littell would go on to retire 10 of the next 11 batters he faced, with six of those batters going down on strikes.     Topa (knee) reached 94 mph during a rehab assignment Friday at Triple-A St. Paul and will make another appearance on May 5, MLB.com reports. He's given up two runs in three innings with five strikeouts and no walks during three rehab outings.

    Advice: Topa began the season on the shelf with left patellar tendinitis and it's taken him longer than initially expected to return.   • Doesn't go deep enough to win
    Dunning allowed two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four batters over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against Kansas City on Saturday.

    Advice: Texas jumped out a 7-0 lead through four innings, which appeared to set Dunning up for an easy win. Meanwhile, the right-hander cruised through those four frames, facing the minimum 12 batters. However, Dunning ran into trouble in the top of the fifth, allowing four Royals to reach base in a span of five hitters, resulting in two runs and a two-out hook. That prevented Dunning from qualifying for the victory, which would have given him his first winning streak of the campaign. He still managed to lower his season ERA slightly to 4.10, but it was a disappointing outing after Dunning punched out 10 batters in a dominant win his previous time on the mound. With six saves in as many attempts since April 20, and with Adbert Alzolay struggling to get on track in lower-leverage situations, Neris appears to be shoring up his spot in the ninth inning under manager Craig Counsell.     Advice: Maton got the call on Saturday to protect a narrow two-run advantage after Jason Adam tossed a scoreless eighth inning in a tie ballgame. He issued a one-out walk to Harrison Bader, but managed to retire Brett Baty and pinch-hitter DJ Stewart to preserve the victory. It’ll be Adam picking up the majority of the save chances for Tampa Bay with Pete Fairbanks sidelined, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see Maton continue to vulture the occasional opportunity.     Zack Littell struck out seven and allowed one run over six innings on Saturday in a no-decision against the Mets.

    Advice: Littell got into trouble early when Starling Marte connected for an RBI single in the opening frame, but that was all that New York’s offense would generate for the remainder of the contest. The 28-year-old righty continues to impress with his four straight outing with at least six strikeouts, while also boasting elite control. He’ll bring a solid 3.00 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 42/5 K/BB ratio across 39 innings (seven starts) into a home outing on Friday against the Yankees. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:30 pm
     
  • Continues to impress
    Lively (1-1) earned the win over the Angels on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out five batters over six innings.

    Advice: Lively got through four scoreless frames before the Angels posted a run in the fifth, but that was all the scoring the right-hander ended up allowing. The soon-to-be 32-year-old has yielded exactly one run in each of his past three starts, and he's given up a total of five earned runs across 21.2 innings on the season for a sterling ERA of 2.08. It's a bit difficult to imagine Lively continuing this level of success given that he entered the campaign with a 5.05 ERA across 208.2 career innings as a major-leaguer, and his Statcast numbers show that despite his strong start to the season, he has given up plenty of hard contact while rarely getting batters to chase. However, it's also worth noting that his strikeout numbers have tangibly risen -- Lively had a career 6.9 K/9 prior to this season but is at a 10.0 K/9 through four starts this year.
