    • Emmanuel Clase collects save in All-Star Game
      Emmanuel Clase fired a scoreless ninth inning to collect the save during Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game at Globe Life Field.

      Advice: Clase was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the final frame of the Midsummer Classic and needed just 13 pitches (11 strikes) to preserve the victory. The hard-throwing 26-year-old right-hander made quite a statement in his third straight All-Star Game appearance, striking out Pete Alonso to open the frame before retiring Elly De La Cruz on a ground out to second base.       Alonso went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.

      Advice: He got the Mets on the board in the fourth inning by crushing a German Marquez two-seamer deep to left field. Alonso snapped an 11-game homer drought with the blast, and he heads into the All-Star break -- and an appearance in the Home Run Derby -- slashing .240/.319/.454 with 19 homers and 51 RBI in 95 contests.     • Swings off tee Sunday
      Jung (wrist) said he took 15 swings with a regular bat off a tee Sunday, MLB.com reports.

      Advice: According to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, Jung admitted that he's not certain of his next step, but the 26-year-old plans to continue swinging the bat over the All-Star break this week. If Jung incurs no setbacks with his surgically repaired right wrist while doing so, the Rangers could then map out a minor-league rehab assignment coming out of the break. Jung previously appeared in four rehab games in June and looked to be on the cusp of returning from the 60-day injured list before experiencing inflammation in his wrist and having his activation date pushed back.       Perez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Red Sox.

      Advice: Perez heads into the All-Star break 11-for-31 (.355) with three homers and eight RBI during his active eight-game hitting streak. The catcher is up to 17 homers on the year, giving him a good chance of surpassing the 23 he hit in each of the last two campaigns.       Lodolo yielded two runs on three hits and four walks over 4.2 innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out four during the loss to Miami.

      Advice: Lodolo kept the Marlins off the board through four innings before Jonah Bride knocked a two-run single in the fifth. Lodolo has failed to complete five frames in three straight outings since his win in Pittsburgh on June 18. During that three-start span, he's produced a lackluster 11:9 K:BB over 13 innings.     • Blake Snell takes no-no into seventh against Twins
      Blake Snell allowed one hit over seven scoreless innings and struck out eight against the Twins on Sunday.

      Advice: Snell allowed just one hard-hit ball, which turned into an out. The lone hit against him was a clean single from Manuel Margot on a 97-mph fastball in the on the hands in the seventh. Snell walked none and was at just 80 pitches through seven, but since he’s coming back from injury, the Giants weren’t going to push it. He’s allowed two hits over 12 scoreless innings since coming off the IL, lowering his ERA from 9.51 to 6.31. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:21 pm

      Snell allowed one hit and struck out eight without walking a batter over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Sunday.

      Advice: Snell carried a perfect game into the seventh inning, and he faced the minimum in his start by erasing the one hit he gave up with a double play. The left-hander was denied the win after Camilo Doval blew a save opportunity, but the Giants bounced back for the team victory. Snell has allowed two hits and three walks over 12 innings since returning from a groin injury, finally showing his skills after an injury-riddled start to 2024.       Wheeler (back) played catch in the outfield Sunday and is expected to make his next start for the Phillies on July 22 or 23 versus the Twins in Minnesota, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: A bout with back spasms caused Wheeler to miss out on a start in the Phillies' final game before the All-Star break Sunday versus the Athletics, and it'll also prevent from making his second appearance in the Midsummer Classic on Tuesday. However, the back issue wasn't significant enough to force Wheeler to the injured list, and if he continues to remain free of setbacks in his throwing sessions over the next week, he should be ready to take the hill July 22 or 23 without any restrictions. With a 10-4 record, 2.70 ERA and 0.99 WHIP through 116.2 innings over his 16 outings on the season, Wheeler had been a leading candidate to start for the National League in the All-Star Game, but those duties will now fall to Pirates rookie phenom Paul Skenes.
