• Homers, drives in three
De La Cruz went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI and three runs scored in Monday's win over Pittsburgh.

Advice: De La Cruz scored a run after singling in the fourth inning before knocking an RBI double and scoring again in the fifth. He capped off his day with a two-run shot in the sixth. It was his 14th home run of the year and fifth of the month. De La Cruz is slashing .249/.342/.464 with 31 extra-base hits, 35 RBI and 52 runs scored this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:39 pm

  • Elly De La Cruz hits 14th homer, Reds rout Pirates
Elly De La Cruz went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI on Monday, leading the Reds to an 11-5 blowout victory over the Pirates.

Advice: De La Cruz served as Cincinnati’s primary offensive catalyst on Monday night at Great American Ball Park with a three-hit performance that included a pair of batted balls with exit velocities over 110 mph, including an impressive 439-foot moonshot -- his 14th round-tripper of the season -- off Pirates reliever Daulton Jefferies in the sixth inning. He also scalded a 110-mph double to right field off Pittsburgh starter Bailey Falter, which brought home a run earlier in the contest. The 22-year-old fantasy superstar has seemingly caught fire again over the last few days, batting .379 (11-for-29) with two homers and one steal over his last seven games. He’s up to 14 homers and 37 steals already, which puts him on pace for a potential 30-homer, 70 steals campaign, if he keeps this going. Unreal. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:20 pm

  • Progressing in recovery
Manager David Bell indicated this weekend that McLain, who underwent shoulder surgery in late March, should be ready to start swinging a bat soon, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. "He's pretty close," Bell said. When he starts swinging, there will be a step-by-step progression from dry swinging to tee work to soft toss, etc. "It's a very well-thought out progression that he'll have to take his time with."

Advice: Bell alluded to McLain being ready for action at some point in August but also noted it's a long process between now and then. The 2021 first-rounder hit 16 home runs with an .864 OPS in his rookie season last year over 403 plate appearances, so his return could potentially give the Reds, a team that ranks just 21st in OPS, some extra pop down the stretch. • Matt McLain (shoulder) close to resuming swinging
Reds manager David Bell told reporters Sunday that Matt McLain (shoulder) is close to resuming swinging a bat.

Advice: The Reds are in the process of mapping out a definitive timeline for McLain to return at some point in August as he works his way back from late-March surgery on his left shoulder. The 24-year-old middle infielder was excellent last year in his debut for Cincinnati and figures to make a significant impact for fantasy managers down the home stretch, if he can avoid any setbacks. He’s worthy of a speculative stash in deeper mixed leagues at this point, even if he’s a couple months away from returning. Rotoworld Sunday, 9:35 am

  • Launches 13th homer
De La Cruz went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in a loss to the Red Sox on Saturday.

Advice: De La Cruz gave Cincinnati a 3-0 lead with his third-inning solo shot, but that turned out to be the final run the Reds scored in the game. The star shortstop came into the contest 0-for-10 with five strikeouts over his previous three contests, so the three-hit effort was a nice way to get back on track. De La Cruz now has 13 long balls on the campaign, and he's added 32 RBI, 48 runs, a league-leading 37 steals and a .240/.338/.444 slash line. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:04 pm

  • De La Cruz has three hits, home run against Boston
Elly De La Cruz went 3-for-5 with a solo home run against the Red Sox on Saturday.

Advice: De La Cruz’s home run was his 13th. He blasted a solo shot off Red Sox starter Nick Pivetta in the third inning. On the bases, he was held without a stolen base, though it wasn’t for lack of trying. De La Cruz was both caught stealing and picked off. He remains stuck on 37 stolen bases entering play Sunday. • Trea Turner hits first home run off IL
Trea Turner went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Turner has hit safely in all three games since returning from his hamstring injury yet this home run was his first extra-base hit. He smacked it 110.6 MPH off the bat, two MPH harder than he’s hit a ball all season. That’s a welcome sight because his power lagged before the injury with just three home runs in April before going down. Rotoworld Friday, 7:19 pm

  • Homers, drives in three in loss
Turner went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a 5-4 loss to the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Turner hit a two-run home run off Jordan Montgomery in the third inning then added an RBI single with the bases loaded in the seventh. Turner has gone 5-for-14 since returning from a hamstring injury, and the homer was his first since April 17. He has been excellent when healthy this season, slashing .344/.389/.470 with three home runs, 12 RBI, 29 runs scored and 10 steals over 162 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Friday, 7:19 pm
