      Kopech struck out one while not allowing a hit or a walk during the ninth inning Thursday to pick up the save against Atlanta.

      Advice: A fielding error is all that prevented a 1-2-3 outing from Kopech, who collected his first save since May 15 after having blown his previous three opportunities. Kopech carries an impressive K/9 rate of 13.0, collecting 48 strikeouts over 33.1 innings. However, he's also allowed 48 batters to reach base (1.44 WHIP), including allowing 1.9 homers and 5.1 walks per nine innings. Kopech is a piece the White Sox will strongly consider selling at the trade deadline and will look for more performances like he provided Thursday to help them maximize his price tag.       Kuhl did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing no runs on one hit and two walks over three innings against Atlanta. He struck out three.

      Advice: Kuhl pitched well during has spot start, allowing just two walks and facing one batter over the minimum through the first three innings as he held Atlanta off the board. He then came out for the fourth but was pulled after allowing a lead-off double to Ozzie Albies. Kuhl, who had thrown 99 pitches in long relief Sunday, made his first start since April of 2023 and according to the AP recounting of the game, admitted afterwards that he was "starting to hit a wall" prior to being pulled.     • Strikes out seven in no-decision
      Hicks did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits, two walks and a hit batsman against the Cubs. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Hicks' outing was marred by a rough third inning in which he hit a batter, allowed two steals and gave up a homer and triple among three hits during the three-run frame. Otherwise, Hicks faced just two batters over the minimum during the other four innings, recording at least seven strikeouts for the fourth time this season.       Thielbar threw 1.1 scoreless innings without a strikeout or walk Thursday against Arizona.

      Advice: It was a confidence building performance for Thielbar who had struggled in June. Thielbar had allowed nine runs (seven earned) and eight hits in his previous 3.2 innings over seven games. He had seemingly lost the ability to control his big breaking curve ball, but looked back to form Thursday. He's been limited to lower-leverage roles while he works out of his slump.     • Davis Daniel fires eight scoreless in ’24 debut
      David Daniel struck out eight over eight shutout innings on Thursday in a win over the Tigers.

      Advice: Daniel was brilliant in his season debut, allowing just four hits over eight scoreless frames in a 5-0 victory for the Angels. His velocity was actually down from his major league outings last year — he averaged 91.7 mph and topped out at 93.0 mph with his fastball tonight — but he induced 13 missed swings and had a 35 percent CSW. We’re still not particularly optimistic here, even if his peripherals were considerably better than his 5.33 ERA in Triple-A, but it’s certainly a nice start that should serve to keep him in the rotation for now.       Scott earned a save against the Phillies on Thursday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Scott made quick work of Philadelphia in the ninth frame, retiring the side in order on nine pitches. The lefty closer has not given up a run in any of his past seven outings, tallying a win and three saves despite a mediocre 5:3 K:BB over seven innings during that span.       Hodge worked around a hit to toss a scoreless 10th inning and earn the save in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Giants. He struck out one.

      Advice: Incumbent closer Hector Neris pitched a clean ninth inning, then Hodge closed the door in the 10th, giving the rookie his first career MLB save. The 23-year-old righty has been solid so far with a 1.80 ERA and 15 strikeouts across 10 innings.       James McArthur tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Guardians on Thursday.

      Ben Lively allowed two runs in six innings and took the loss against the Royals on Thursday.

      Advice: Lively gave up six hits, walked one and struck out five. He continues to pitch pretty well, but the Guardians only provided one run in support of his effort. Lively has a 3.03 ERA on the season. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the White Sox at home next week.
