      Advice: The 28-year-old southpaw gave up a one-out solo blast to Jakson Reetz that pulled the Giants to within a run, but he battled back to strike out Nick Ahmed and got Jung Hoo Lee on a fly ball to right field to end it.     • Struggles mightily in return
      Manoah did not factor into the decision, allowing seven runs (six earned) on six hits and four walks over four innings Sunday against the Nationals. He struck out six.

      Advice: Manoah struggled with his command throughout, also hitting a batter to allow 11 baserunners, including two homers, and six earned runs during his first start of the season. It was not the type of start the Blue Jays were hoping to see out of the fourth-year starter, who compiled a 2.59 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 307 strikeouts over 308.1 innings during his first two seasons but struggled to a 5.87 ERA and 1.74 WHIP over 87.1 innings last season spanning 19 starts. The Blue Jays are hopeful Manoah can return to form this season, but fantasy managers will be wise to proceed with skepticism until the 26-year-old righty starts to show signs that he's working past his funk. His next turn would tentatively be slated for next weekend at home against the Twins, though this performance likely indicates his next start is far from assured.       Advice: Soto had a rough go of it against Detroit starter Tarik Skubal, striking out twice against the tough lefty. However, Soto fared much better against southpaw reliever Andrew Chafin, clearing the bases with a seventh inning double to break a 2-2 tie and provide the winning runs for the Yankees. Soto's average stands at .316 with a .980 OPS, including eight homers, 28 RBI, 23 runs and four steals over 136 at-bats during his first season in the Bronx.     • Alek Manoah tagged for seven runs in 2024 debut
      Making his 2024 debut, Alek Manoah gave up seven runs — six earned — in four innings Sunday against the Nationals.

      Advice: Manoah issued a bases-loaded walk in the first, but that run was unearned because of an error to start the inning. He later gave up a homer in the third and five runs after recording the second out of the fourth. The good news is that Manoah had really strong velocity today — his 94.3 mph average on his fastball was up 1.5 mph from last year and also little better than his 2022 average — and he was able to strike out six batters.     • Juan Soto propels Yankees past Tigers on Sunday
      Juan Soto delivered a go-ahead three-run double in the seventh inning on Sunday, propelling the Yankees to a 5-2 victory over the Tigers in the Bronx.

      Advice: The Tigers came back with a pair of runs to tie the game in the top half of the seventh inning, but the Yankees’ bats went right back to work in the home half of the frame. They loaded the bases against Shelby Miller with a single and a pair of walks, then Soto greeted Andrew Chafin with a three-run double into right field to put the Bombers back on top to stay.       Jackson Chourio went 0-for-2 and was pinch-hit for in the seventh inning as the Brewers were shut out by the Cubs on Sunday afternoon.

      Advice: The 20-year-old phenom fouled out to first base in the third inning and bounced into a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning. While he has shown flashes of greatness, it has been a struggle overall through his first 30 games — slashing a troublesome .219/.265/.352 with four homers, 13 RBI, six stolen bases and a 35/7 K/BB ratio over 114 plate appearances. It seems like the Brewers are content sticking with him and letting him take his lumps at the big league level, but if the struggles continue at this rate, eventually something may have to give.       Rodriguez (shoulder) played catch from 60-to-75 feet Sunday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

      Advice: Rodriguez landed on the injured list with shoulder inflammation following his April 29 start against the Yankees, and he ended up being shut down from throwing for only a few days. The right-hander could soon ramp up to bullpen sessions, and it remains to be seen if he'll require a minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining Baltimore's rotation.
